A busy, dual-working couple on the Upper East Side is seeking a warm, experienced, and responsible nanny/family assistant for their two school-aged children (6 & 8 years). The schedule will be 40 hours per week (guaranteed), typically from 2pm or 3pm through 9pm or 10pm, Monday through Thursday, and 1pm or 2 pm through 8pm or 9pm on Friday (at least 1-2 times per week the couple is out in the evening after bedtime). Duties will include, though are not limited to, picking the children up from school/after-school programs, taking them to activities/play dates, supervising homework, general tidying up (cleaning up spills/keeping the play spaces and kitchen orderly, etc.), and assisting with dinner, bath, and bedtime. Other responsibilities include light grocery shopping, running errands, miscellaneous admin, and occasional snack/meal prep (though you will not generally be required to cook as there is other staff employed to do so). Previous experience in a similar role in NYC is essential, along with a college education, and preferably a Masters in Education or the Arts. The ideal candidate will be warm, creative, intelligent, responsible, and able to engage the children in enriching activities, such as board games, puzzles, arts and crafts, and reading. A candidate needs to have strong interpersonal communication skills, a great sense of humor, and a genuine love for children. This is a very busy household - both parents work long hours and there are a lot of moving parts, so a candidate must be comfortable and composed in this kind of environment, exceedingly trustworthy, and a highly responsive communicator. There will be occasional international travel, and the family spends nearly every weekend at a secondary residence north of NYC during the Summer months (and visit there often throughout the year), so it would be helpful if the candidate could join them from time to time. If you are interested and authorized to work in the US, please apply online to KP106.
