  • Overview

A family in Portola Valley is seeking a live-out, part-time carer/companion for their able-bodied son (aged 24). The schedule will be part-time, Monday through Sunday, though exact hours may vary and flexibility is essential. The candidate will work under the guidance and direction of a primary, full-time, live-in carer/companion. The candidate will be expected to connect and build a strong relationship with the young man over time, providing him with emotional sustenance, hope, friendship, and stability as he convalesces from a chronic illness (personal care support is not a requirement of this role). Duties will include liaising with the medical team, friends and family (who visit regularly), coordinating appointments, managing the young man's treatment and supplement schedule, running errands, light housework, and generally ensuring the young man is comfortable and happy. The ability to cook high quality, healthy foods is a bonus, though not essential, since the family employ a part-time chef. Candidates must be intelligent, personable, friendly and eager to learn/research, with long-term experience in a similar role. Team player mentality, empathy and compassion are a must, along with a naturally cheerful and positive demeanor. A medical background/training is welcome, though is not required. Preference will be given to candidates who play a musical instrument or have a keen interest in music. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to further their knowledge of interesting, frontier areas of medicine and care (such as neuroimmunology). If you are interested in this position, have a clean and current driving license and hold a US Passport, Green Card, or EAC, please apply online to KP100.
