  • Overview

A busy family on the UES is seeking an educated nanny for their school-aged children (10 and 12 years). There is also a 3 yr old, though another nanny is responsible for her care. There may be occasions, however, when the nanny is required to step in to care for the toddler (if the other nanny is sick/when the family travel etc.), so experience with this age group is also essential. The family will guarantee 50 hours, which will typically fall between the hours of 7/7:30am and 8:30/9pm. The boys are at school from 8am-3pm every day so some days you'll start early and help with the morning routine, other days you'll start at 3pm - depending on the day. Some weeks it will be more about babysitting in the evenings if mom and dad are out, others you'll be more hands-on in the day with miscellaneous tasks such as liaising with contractors, managing food deliveries, running errands, and more. You'll also be required to keep things tidy and prepare simple, Kosher-friendly meals (though there is also a housekeeper/cook). The family travel in the summer to the Hamptons, and they take 3-4 vacations throughout the year (which they split between the 2 nannies). This is an informal household and the ideal candidate will be low-key and easygoing - a "big sister" type who can offer gentle guidance/help with homework, etc. rather than take charge and be too strict. A strong educational background is essential, along with experience of working with toddlers through 7th grade and beyond. You must drive, for the purpose of running errands/dropping off/picking up (when in the Hamptons, not in the city). If you are interested and legal to work in the US, please apply online to KP077.
