Job Description

A private family in the San Francisco Bay Area is seeking an experienced, warm, and highly organized full-time live-in Nanny/Family Assistant to join their household. The family has one child, an almost four-year-old boy, and a small Pomeranian. They currently reside in San Francisco and plan to relocate to Hillsborough in February 2027.

The ideal candidate will be nurturing, energetic, proactive, and flexible, with a genuine passion for childcare and the ability to assist with the day-to-day organization of a busy household. This is a long-term position for someone who enjoys working with children while also taking initiative with light household responsibilities.

The child attends preschool Monday through Friday, approximately 9am to 5pm. The nanny will assist with morning and afternoon childcare routines, while using preschool hours to help maintain an organized and smoothly running home.

The family travels domestically and internationally, including to Europe and Asia, and is seeking someone comfortable accompanying them on extended trips. The family has an upcoming trip to China and Singapore beginning December 15 and would ideally like their new nanny to accompany them.

Responsibilities

Childcare:

  • Assist with the child's morning routine, including breakfast, dressing, and preparing for preschool.

  • Provide attentive and engaging care after preschool, including playtime, educational activities, outdoor outings, and meals.

  • Plan age-appropriate activities that encourage learning, creativity, and development.

  • Assist with dinner and occasional bedtime routines.

  • Maintain the child's bedroom, toys, clothing, and personal belongings.

  • Travel with the family domestically and internationally as needed.

Family Assistant / Household Responsibilities:

  • Maintain general household organization and tidy common areas.

  • Make beds and keep bedrooms neat and organized.

  • Handle family laundry, including washing, drying, folding, and putting clothing away.

  • Unpack and organize household deliveries and packages.

  • Keep the kitchen tidy, clean up after meals, and load and unload the dishwasher.

  • Assist with organizing household supplies and maintaining inventory.

  • Help with light housekeeping and general household upkeep.

  • Assist with occasional dog walking and basic pet-related tasks.

The family employs this position for childcare and light household assistance, not heavy or deep cleaning.

Requirements

  • Minimum of several years of professional nanny experience, preferably with preschool-aged children.

  • Previous experience in a combined nanny/family assistant role strongly preferred.

  • Warm, patient, energetic, dependable, and highly organized.

  • Proactive and able to work independently without constant direction.

  • Fluent or proficient in English; Mandarin language skills are a plus.

  • Comfortable traveling domestically and internationally, including extended trips of approximately 4–6 weeks.

  • Valid passport and appropriate travel documentation.

  • Comfortable around small dogs and willing to assist with occasional dog walking.

  • Driving preferred but not required.

  • Previous experience working in private or high-net-worth households is a plus.

  • Excellent professional references.

  • Discreet, trustworthy, flexible, and interested in a long-term position.

Salary and Benefits

The schedule is full-time, five days per week, with two days off. Days off may include one weekday and one weekend day, depending on the family's needs. Flexibility is essential, particularly during family travel.

The family will provide a private bedroom in their home, including private accommodations when traveling.

Compensation is $45–$50 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications, plus benefits to be discussed.

The family is looking to begin interviewing immediately, with the goal of having someone join their household in November 2026.
