Overview

A warm and welcoming family in Park Slope, Brooklyn, is seeking an experienced, highly organized, and proactive Executive Housekeeper to oversee the cleanliness, organization, and day-to-day upkeep of their approximately 4,000-square-foot, six-story townhouse.

The family has two young children, ages 3 years and 3 months, and employs a live-in nanny. They are looking for an exceptional candidate who takes genuine pride in their work, is highly efficient, and can independently manage the household's cleaning and organizational needs without extensive direction or supervision.

This position combines detailed housekeeping, deep cleaning, and household organization, with occasional childcare assistance as a welcome bonus. The family is seeking someone who can take ownership of the home, anticipate needs, prioritize tasks, and maintain an exceptionally clean and well-organized environment.

The family values a pleasant, respectful working environment and is hoping to find someone who will become a trusted, long-term member of their household.

Schedule

  • Approximately 32 hours per week, with flexibility in how the hours are distributed

  • Friday is a priority, particularly for preparing the home for Shabbat

  • Saturday availability is strongly preferred for post-Shabbat cleanup and occasional additional household support

  • Additional weekday hours may be scheduled on Monday and Wednesday or other mutually agreed-upon days

  • The family is flexible with the schedule for an exceptional candidate and prioritizes finding the right person over a rigid schedule

Responsibilities

Housekeeping & Deep Cleaning

  • Full-charge housekeeping of the family's approximately 4,000-square-foot, six-story townhouse

  • Thorough, detailed cleaning of all living spaces, bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen, and common areas

  • Regular deep cleaning to maintain the home to an exceptionally high standard

  • Managing daily tidying and organization throughout the residence

  • Ensuring that areas are not only visually tidy but thoroughly cleaned and sanitized

  • Maintaining a consistently clean kitchen and dining areas

  • Preparing guest bedrooms and refreshing linens when visitors are expected

  • Managing household laundry, including washing, folding, putting away, and changing bed linens

  • Unpacking luggage and organizing belongings following family trips

  • Rotating deep-cleaning projects and maintaining a structured cleaning routine

Household Organization & Management

  • Independently planning and prioritizing daily housekeeping tasks

  • Creating an efficient workflow across multiple floors of the home

  • Anticipating household needs and proactively addressing them

  • Adjusting daily priorities based on family needs, guests, and special occasions

  • Communicating effectively with the principals and promptly following through on requests

  • Maintaining organization throughout closets, storage areas, and common spaces

  • Taking ownership of household tasks without requiring constant reminders or supervision

Qualifications

Occasional Childcare (Preferred, Not Required)

  • Providing occasional backup childcare when the family's regular nanny is unavailable

  • Comfortable caring for a toddler and infant for short periods as needed

  • Assisting with childcare during scheduled working hours in place of housekeeping duties when necessary

  • Occasional weekend childcare assistance would be a plus

The family has a dedicated live-in nanny, so childcare is not a primary responsibility. Candidates with exceptional housekeeping and organizational skills will be considered even without childcare experience.

Requirements

  • Significant professional housekeeping experience in private homes

  • Experience maintaining larger luxury residences preferred

  • Strong knowledge of detailed cleaning, deep cleaning, and household organization

  • Excellent time-management and prioritization skills

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

  • Strong communication skills and willingness to adapt to changing household priorities

  • Physically comfortable working throughout a six-story townhouse and regularly using stairs; the home has an elevator, but it is not always operational

  • Excellent, verifiable references

  • Reliable, punctual, and professional

  • Comfortable working in a home with young children

  • Friday availability strongly preferred

  • Saturday availability is a significant plus

  • Occasional childcare experience is a plus, particularly with infants and toddlers, but not required

Salary and Benefits

$45–$50+/hour, depending on experience and qualifications.

The family is willing to offer competitive compensation for an exceptional candidate who demonstrates strong organizational abilities, initiative, and the ability to independently manage the household's needs.

This is a long-term opportunity with a kind and appreciative family who values professionalism, reliability, and exceptional work. They are seeking someone who will take ownership of their responsibilities, communicate effectively, and help create a clean, organized, and welcoming home without requiring extensive oversight.
