Overview

A warm and welcoming family in Rye, NY, is seeking an experienced, energetic, and engaging Full-Time Nanny to care for their two young children, ages 2 years and 3 months and 7 months. The ideal candidate is nurturing, creative, dependable, and genuinely passionate about early childhood development.

The family is looking for a hands-on nanny who truly enjoys interacting with children, creating fun and educational activities, and actively supporting their developmental milestones. Both parents work full-time, with the mother primarily working from home and the father splitting his time between home and the office.

The ideal candidate will be confident managing two young children with different schedules and developmental needs while maintaining a positive, calm, and organized environment.

Schedule

  • Monday–Thursday: 8:00 AM–5:30 PM

  • Friday: 8:00 AM–5:00 PM

  • 47.5 scheduled hours per week

  • Flexibility to occasionally stay until approximately 7:00 PM when the parents have work commitments or commute into the city

  • Occasional evening babysitting for date nights, approximately once per month

  • Rare weekend availability for weddings or special events, with advance notice

Responsibilities

  • Provide attentive, loving, and developmentally appropriate care for both children

  • Actively engage the children in interactive play, educational games, reading, singing, arts and crafts, and creative activities

  • Support the infant's developmental milestones, including sitting independently, crawling, and age-appropriate motor skills

  • Encourage the toddler's language development, sentence formation, recognition of colors, numbers, and letters, and other early learning skills

  • Plan age-appropriate outings, activities, and opportunities for socialization

  • Confidently manage both children's routines, naps, meals, and activities

  • Prepare healthy, nutritious, and well-balanced meals and snacks for the children

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the children's bedrooms, playroom, toys, and common play areas

  • Handle children's laundry and keep their belongings organized

  • Monitor and replenish children's supplies, including diapers, wipes, food, and other essentials

  • Safely drive the children to and from school, classes, activities, and appointments

  • Assist with packing and organizing children's belongings for family outings or travel as needed

  • Occasionally assist with light errands, such as grocery shopping or UPS drop-offs, when the children's schedules permit

  • Help with minor pet-related tasks, such as refilling the family dog's food and water bowls and letting the dog outside

The family employs a housekeeper twice weekly, so housekeeping responsibilities will remain primarily child-related.

Requirements

  • Significant professional nanny experience, particularly with infants and toddlers

  • Proven ability to independently care for two young children at different developmental stages

  • Strong knowledge of infant and toddler developmental milestones

  • Excellent driving skills and substantial driving experience

  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to and from work

  • Comfortable safely transporting children to school, classes, and activities

  • Excellent references

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills

  • Reliable, punctual, and flexible with scheduling

  • Comfortable with age-appropriate educational activities and hands-on play

  • Up to date on routine vaccinations; COVID-19 and flu vaccinations are not required

  • Comfortable around dogs

  • Ability to swim

  • Willingness to travel domestically with the family occasionally is a plus, but not required (typically no more than once annually)

Salary and Benefits

  • $32–$35/hour, negotiable for the right candidate

  • Overtime compensation in accordance with New York State law

  • Two weeks of paid vacation annually, with one week selected by the family and one week selected by the nanny

  • Christmas/holiday bonus
