Overview

A lovely single parent in Columbus, Wisconsin, is seeking a caring and experienced Live-In Nanny/Family Assistant. Primary care will be for infant twins. The family divides its time between two residences in Columbus and Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, so the position requires flexibility and a willingness to live and work at both homes. The commute between the two residences is approximately 45 minutes, and private living accommodations will be provided for the nanny at each home.

The ideal candidate genuinely enjoys working with infants and is dependable, trustworthy, organized, and proactive. They should take pride in helping maintain a well-run household and be comfortable balancing childcare with family assistant responsibilities. A high school-aged son visits the home weekly, while the family's other two children are grown and no longer live at home but may visit from time to time.

The position guarantees 45 hours per week, typically scheduled across five consecutive days with at least one weekend day off each week. The schedule will generally consist of two 12-hour days from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and three shorter 7-hour days.

The family also employs an au pair. Typically, when the nanny is working, the au pair will be off, aside from a few hours of overlap throughout the week. Family assistant responsibilities will therefore primarily be completed during the twins' nap times and during periods when both caregivers are working. There may also be opportunities to adjust the schedule to allow for additional dedicated time for family assistant responsibilities.

Responsibilities

Childcare

Provide loving, attentive care for twin infants
Manage feedings, bottle preparation, burping, diapering, and changing
Establish and maintain consistent feeding and sleep routines
Manage nap and bedtime preparation
Handle baby laundry and maintain organized nursery areas
Assist with bathing and all aspects of general infant care
Monitor the babies' daily schedules, routines, and needs and communicate updates with the parent
Maintain a calm, safe, clean, and nurturing environment

House Manager Responsibilities

Coordinate and oversee the day-to-day operation of the household
Keep the home organized, tidy, and running efficiently
Assist with light to moderate household tidying and organization; housekeepers are employed for deep cleaning
Manage laundry, linens, and general household upkeep
Handle grocery shopping and household errands
Prepare meals, including family meals
Keep household supplies stocked and organized
Coordinate service providers, deliveries, maintenance appointments, and other household needs
Assist with organizing household schedules and activities
Assist with packing, unpacking, and preparing the homes when transitioning between residences
Maintain organization of the children's clothing, supplies, toys, and equipment

Qualifications

Anticipate household needs and take initiative rather than waiting to be asked
A warm, caring, patient personality
Flexibility regarding the family's schedule and movement between residences
The ability to work independently while also communicating effectively with the family

Requirements

At least 5 years’ experience caring for infants; twin experience is a strong plus
A clean driving record and valid driver's license; comfortable driving in the snow
Strong organizational and time-management skills
Excellent communication skills
The ability to maintain confidentiality and respect the privacy of the family
