Overview

The busy working family in Atherton, CA is seeking a PA/HM to join their team.  This is a full-time, live-out position.  One principal has an interior design background and nonprofit strategy experience, and the other is a technology investor who wants a household that thrives on efficiency.  The schedule is Monday – Friday, 10 am–6 pm.  The candidate should already live in or near the Bay Area or within a commutable distance.  The position is ready to hire immediately.

Responsibilities

  • Support a busy household and ensure that all personal and household operations run smoothly behind the scenes.
  • Thrives on problem-solving and is equally comfortable working autonomously and taking direction.
  • Household Operations & Maintenance
  • Manage general day-to-day household operations.
  • Source, vet, and manage vendors and contractors for home maintenance and repair projects.
  • Assist in overseeing ongoing home expansion project(s).
  • Maintain and update the household manual and preventative maintenance schedule.
  • Ensure preventative maintenance tasks are scheduled and completed on time.
  • Run local errands as needed.
  • Construction Projects:  The family has acquired the parcel of land adjacent to their home and is embarking on a two-year project to build a simple, single-story gym and guesthouse.
  • Serve as the liaison between the Principals and the contractor — keeping the timeline on track and the contractor accountable.
  • Manage accounts payable and the project budget.
  • Lead procurement of interior items for the project, under the guidance of the Design Principal.
  • Organization & Projects:  Assist with home organization projects — closets, storage, digital files, and more.
  • Take ownership of ad hoc personal or household projects as they arise.
  • Events:  Manage personal events, from small, intimate gatherings to larger parties.

Requirements

  • Must be legal to work in the US
  • Prior experience as a personal assistant, house manager, and/or project manager in a high-end residence
  • Bachelor’s degree, ideally in interior design, business, hospitality, supply chain, or construction management.
  • Tech-savvy - Must be comfortable using Google Docs, Notion, Savant, Adobe Illustrator, and/or SketchUp.
  • Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Excellent judgment, discretion, and reliability.
  • Skilled in negotiation and conflict resolution with vendors.
  • Comfortable rolling up your sleeves and wearing many hats.
  • Solutions-oriented, with a problem-solving approach to challenges.
  • Adaptable and calm under pressure.
  • An eye for design and aesthetics, with attention to detail.

Salary and Benefits

The family offers a competitive salary of $150K++ based on experience.
