Overview

A mature professional is seeking a fantastic part-time chef to work 2-3 days per week at their home on the Upper East Side. No service is required as part of this role- the chef will prepare two or three meals (for one person) at each visit, and leave them for the principal to reheat. The principal enjoys Mediterranean, Mexican, and Japanese cuisines, and they are gluten free and eat very low fat, so the chef should be comfortable with light, clean cooking. The principal travels to the Hamptons during the summer and they are seeking someone who is willing and able to travel to the Hamptons as needed, where they will often cook for dinner parties and guests.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare dinner in the kitchen at each visit, with extra meals packed away in the fridge for later in the week
  • Prepare varied and delicious meals without fats, oils, or gluten
  • Menu plan with input and collaboration from the principal
  • Create a grocery list for the house manager while in NYC, and handle grocery shopping while in the Hamptons
  • Maintain organization and leave the kitchen clean and tidy

Qualifications

  • Creative and innovative
  • Able to incorporate a variety of cuisines and flavors in a healthy way
  • Organized and able to manage time to accomplish necessary tasks
  • Familiar with planning meals in a way that allows for quality when reheating several days later

Requirements

  • Great longevity with clients and stellar references
  • Very comfortable with gluten-free cooking
  • Familiar with Mediterranean style preparation- light and healthy, with no fats or oils
  • Willing and able to travel to the Hamptons during the summer months

Salary and Benefits

  • $60-90/hr. or day rate in the $500+ range
