Overview

A wonderful family of four living on the Upper East Side, is seeking an experienced housekeeper/laundress. This position is part-time and the schedule will be Tuesday and Thursday with six-hour days; either 7am-1pm or 8am-2pm.
 
The family also includes two well-behaved dogs, a Labrador and a Dachshund.
 
They require full housekeeping for their apartment, which should be done pro-actively and to a high standard, following the household's already established routine and systems.
 
Laundry is a significant part of the role and a real requirement. The candidate must have previous experience handling delicate fabrics.
 
 

Responsibilities

  • Full household cleaning and upkeep of a three-bedroom, three-bathroom apartment
  • Dusting thoroughly throughout
  • Ensure the bathrooms are thoroughly cleaned and towels changed
  • Ensure the kitchen surfaces are cleaned as well as appliances
  • Empty the trash
  • Restock as supplies run low including keeping the refrigerator stocked to their requirements
  • Silverware is hand washed and silver and copper is polished
  • Attention to detail - moving furniture to clean behind and underneath to ensure nothing is overlooked
  • The apartment has wallpapered rooms, antique wool rugs, natural stone, and good linens, the candidate should have prior knowledge and experience on how to care for each area
  • Laundry and pressing - clothing must be properly sorted, reading labels and care instructions carefully, with skilled pressing of shirts, linens, and fine fabrics. Sewing skills are a plus

No cooking or childcare is required.

 

Qualifications

  • Comfortable working with a principal working from home, the candidate must be able to move through the apartment quietly
  • Previous experience working in homes with delicate furnishings

 

Requirements

  • Must be organized and detail orientated in their work
  • Works autonomously and pro-actively
  • Must be discrete and reliable 
  • The family are wanting a candidate to stay with them for many years
  • This is a pet friendly household and the candidate must be comfortable working around dogs

 

Salary and Benefits

  • $40-$45/ hour (DOE)
