Searching for an exceptional house manager for a wonderful family in the West Village. This is a full-time position and the candidate should expect to spend most weekdays on site at their townhouse in the city during the year or home in East Hampton in the summer. There will be minimal travel to two out of state homes. This position requires good leadership skills, the ability to delegate/collaborate, and to work confidently on a variety of projects autonomously. The ideal candidate is solution-oriented with high energy and works quickly to get the job done. They should have experience in an operations-focused role and have the confidence to take initiative to improve processes. The position is intended to be 40 hours per week and they’re looking for someone flexible, efficient, and hardworking. The role is available to start immediately.
• Manage repairs, upkeep, and vendors for the 4 homes
• Manages household spending, reducing wasteful spending and understanding the principals’’ priorities
• Find trustworthy vendors. Even better if candidate comes with known resources
• Keep on top of necessary household supplies and coordinate with other household staff on restocking and reordering
• Manage inventory of clothes including packing and unpacking with housekeeper support
• Manage part-time workers and full-time staff in a friendly, supportive way. This is a solid team that works well together
• Calendar management as needed
• Research and assist with personal shopping, gift buying, and gift wrapping
• Plan and supervise home entertainment, parties, dinners, and other events
• Recruit, train, and oversee household staff
• Manage the purchasing, stocking, and organizing of household items and groceries
• Ability to assist with the general care of a dog including house/pet sitting and scheduling vet appointments
• Self-starter that is willing to learn new ways to make the houses run better and be more organized
• Someone with good taste who understands beautiful homes and how they are run
• Understanding of how to keep closets and delicate items, working with laundress and dry cleaner
• Excellent communication and organizational skills, familiarity and proficiency with all common chat and voice applications, email, spreadsheet software, productivity software, photo documentation, etc. including Google Suite, Notion, Savant, and WhatsApp and slack for messaging.
• Excellent collaboration skills to work together to solve problems and tackle tasks
• Flexibility to help get the job done without being too rigid, hard, or overbearing
• Proper social etiquette and ability to read the room
• Ability to lift up to 30 lbs (boxes, deliveries, etc.)
• The principals own a dog so candidates should be pet friendly and not have pet allergies
• Professional demeanor and the ability to discreetly deal with confidential information
• Empathetic and able to stay calm and collected in high-pressure situations
• Ability and desire to foster a safe, supportive environment for all team members, ensuring they respect and value cultural collaboration, communication, and mutual support
