Overview

A busy household in the West Village, NYC, is seeking a top-notch lead executive housekeeper to keep the home running and always guest-ready.  This is a rare long-term opportunity to join a household that takes pride in maintaining an exceptional private residence. The successful candidate will serve as both a hands-on Executive Housekeeper and a trusted operational leader, helping ensure every aspect of the residence operates seamlessly while mentoring and supporting the housekeeping team.  The main residence is in NYC, and there is a second home in CA.  The role does not require travel.  The schedule is Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week.  The position is ready to hire and seeking longevity.

Responsibilities

  • Comfortable as the lead housekeeper and help to train, mentor, and support the existing housekeeping staff
  • Working closely with the principal and other household staff
  • Maintaining the highest personal standards for yourself
  • Reinforcing household procedures
  • Maintaining quality-control standards
  • Fostering a positive, collaborative work environment where everyone takes pride in their work.
  • Lead by example and help ensure the residence operates smoothly, efficiently, and to the highest standards each day.
  • Complete hands-on housekeeping
  • Expert laundry and wardrobe care
  • Occasionally preparing a light breakfast and supporting the private chef with food presentation, service, and cleanup as needed
  • Preparing guest accommodations
  • Overseeing household inventories
  • Maintaining household supplies
  • Receiving deliveries, coordinating returns
  • Ensuring the residence is always impeccably prepared before it's needed
  • Packing and unpacking luggage for travel
  • Coordinating dry cleaning and tailoring
  • Maintaining the principal's wardrobe
  • Preparing the residence before and after travel
  • Anticipating the principal's daily needs with minimal direction
  • Operational eyes and ears of the residence
  • Recognizing maintenance concerns before they become larger issues
  • Coordinating qualified service providers appointments
  • Scheduling preventative maintenance
  • Ensuring every aspect of the home continues to function at the highest level.
  • Maintain preventative maintenance schedules
  • Assist with organizing seasonal maintenance and ongoing household improvement projects
  • Hospitality-minded professional who understands that while the schedule is generally Monday through Friday, private households occasionally require flexibility to accommodate the principal's schedule, travel, guests, entertaining, and special events.

Requirements

  • Must be legal to work in the US
  • A calm, positive demeanor with the ability to adapt as household priorities evolve
  • Extensive experience working in high-end, luxury private residence
  • Exceptional housekeeping and laundry skills
  • Expert wardrobe and fine fabric care
  • Strong organizational and household management abilities
  • Experience coordinating household vendors, service providers, and preventative maintenance schedules
  • Ability to anticipate household needs and solve problems independently
  • Excellent written and spoken English
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Comfort using smartphones, tablets, calendars, and household management software
  • Experience working with high-profile, public-facing, or ultra-high-net-worth principals preferred
  • Absolute discretion, sound judgment, and an unwavering commitment to confidentiality
  • Flexible availability, with the ability to adjust hours as needed to accommodate the principal's schedule, guests, entertaining, travel, and special events
  • Experience working in technologically sophisticated homes is highly desirable.
  • Candidates should be comfortable operating:
    • Crestron and Lutron home automation systems
    • Lutron smart lighting and automated shade controls
    • Whole-home audio, video, and entertainment systems, including Apple TV, AirPlay, distributed speaker systems, and integrated AV controls
    • Premium residential appliances, including Sub-Zero, Wolf, Miele, Gaggenau, and similar luxury brands

Salary and Benefits

The family is offering a competitive salary of $60/hr+, depending on experience, with a full, comprehensive benefits package.
