Overview

A kind multi-generational family seeks an exceptional nanny/family assistant to join their household team. This role will focus on caring for a 3.5-year-old, 19-month-old and 14-month-old, while also providing family assistance support. The position begins immediately upon finding the right candidate. The ideal candidate will join a collaborative household team that includes another nanny, placed by BAHS, housekeepers, and mother's helper. Together, this team will support the families, requiring flexibility, excellent teamwork, and communication skills.


The general schedule will be Monday through Friday 11am-8pm. The position will be live-out and the ideal candidate is open to traveling with the family as they maintain a home in London and travel throughout the year (Europe, Miami, Hawaii, etc.). Trips will vary from 4 days to 3 weeks. The parents hope to find a true career professional who can engage their children in developmentally appropriate and educational activities and is able to support them with a range of household tasks. 

 

This household includes multiple family members and staff. The nanny/FA will:

  • Work alongside another nanny as part of a childcare team managing the children 
  • Collaborate daily with mother's helpers, housekeepers, and other staff members
  • Interact with various family members who live in the residence and are actively involved with the children
  • Navigate a busy household where different staff may report to different family members
  • Be comfortable in a social environment with frequent hand-offs and tag-teaming childcare

Responsibilities

Childcare Responsibilities:

  • Create a warm, nurturing environment while maintaining appropriate boundaries
  • Plan and facilitate developmentally appropriate activities and educational experiences. Take initiative in planning fun, developmentally appropriate activities 
  • Research and coordinate local adventures and outings for enrichment
  • Provide transportation to activities (excellent driving skills required and nanny car is provided for transporting the children)
  • Coordinate schedules, manage appointments
  • Assist with meal preparation for children
  • Adapt to caring interchangeably for different ages 

Family Assistant Responsibilities:

  • Children's laundry and general tidying up of playroom, children's bedrooms, etc.
  • Children's dishes 
  • Running errands (dry cleaning, shopping, returns, etc.)
  • Making phone calls and handling small tasks on the family's behalf (appointments, reservations, follow-ups, etc.)
  • Personal assistant tasks as they emerge/time permitting: vendor coordination, travel logistics, etc. 

Qualifications

  • Career professional nanny with family assistant experience
  • Excellent understanding of child development milestones and age-appropriate activities. Experience with both toddlers and preschoolers.
  • Proven ability to work in a team environment with multiple staff members
  • No ego - willing to help wherever needed while maintaining professional boundaries. 
  • Excellent social skills, ability to read the room. Positive, proactive attitude
  • Organizational prowess and attention to detail, very precise. Excellent time management.
  • Proactive and self-directed
  • Ability to flexibly pivot between childcare and assistant tasks based on family needs
  • Very tech-savvy (comfortable with Baby Connect, Google Calendar, scheduling apps)
  • Adaptable problem-solver who thrives in dynamic environments
  • Grounded and practical approach to childcare. The parents like Dr. Becky and a more respectful and firm parenting style (not permissive)

Requirements

  • Must already be local to the Bay Area
  • Excellent swimmer and comfortable supervising and being in the water with young children 
  • Physically able to lift and carry up to 35 lbs including picking up, carrying, and moving children throughout the day if needed  
  • Driver's license and clean driving record (nanny car provided for on the job driving) 
  • Able to travel domestic and international including some longer trips (2-4 weeks)
  • Professional who knows how to maintain boundaries and able to navigate a fully-staffed house
  • Easy going personality, able to roll with changes, and adapt quickly to different environments 
  • Infant/child CPR and First-Aid certifications (or be willing to update them ASAP)
  • Trustline certified, or willing to certify 
  • No animal allergies and comfortable being around animals including farm animals (horses, etc.) No pet care required.
  • Legal to work in the US

Salary and Benefits

$45-50 per hour plus applicable overtime 

Two weeks PTO, sick days, paid holidays, healthcare stipend
