Overview

First-time parents are seeking an experienced, collaborative, and professional Overnight Newborn Care Specialist to provide overnight support beginning with the arrival of their first child, due on November 12th. The family is looking for an initial 2-month commitment, with the first 14 days consisting of 7 nights per week before transitioning to 5 nights per week of overnight care.

They are seeking an NCS who will serve as both a knowledgeable educator and a supportive partner, helping them build confidence as new parents while respecting their parenting preferences and goals. The ideal candidate will prioritize teaching and guidance over directing parenting decisions, offering evidence-based recommendations while remaining flexible and adapting their approach to the family's individual needs rather than following a rigid philosophy.

The family values a respectful, collaborative partnership and is looking for someone who empowers parents to become confident and self-sufficient. They appreciate candidates who are open-minded, adaptable to different parenting styles and cultural practices, and committed to supporting the family's choices while providing exceptional newborn care and professional guidance throughout the transition into parenthood.

Responsibilities

  • Provide overnight newborn care, including feeding support, diapering, soothing, swaddling, and monitoring infant wellness.
  • Establish healthy newborn sleep habits and age-appropriate routines.
  • Educate first-time parents on newborn care, sleep, feeding, soothing techniques, and developmental milestones.
  • Support breastfeeding and/or bottle feeding based on the family's preferences without promoting a particular feeding philosophy.
  • Maintain feeding, sleep, and diaper logs.
  • Sterilize bottles and pump parts and maintain an organized nursery.
  • Monitor infant health and communicate any concerns promptly.
  • Provide reassurance and confidence-building for new parents while encouraging independence.

Requirements

  • Certified Newborn Care Specialist preferred.
  • Extensive professional newborn experience.
  • Excellent verifiable references.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Up-to-date vaccinations as requested by the family.
  • Willingness to work the initial 7-night schedule before transitioning to 5 nights per week.

Salary and Benefits

  • Competitive and commensurate with experience.
