Overview

A wonderful family of 4 in Greenwich Village, NY is seeking a live-out, part-time housekeeper/cook with emphasis on cooking, meal preparation, and additional support where needed for keeping the home tidy, and engaging with the family’s two children (ages 11 and 13 no childcare involved). Key duties include preparing healthy, organic, family-friendly meals, including lunches (prepped for the following day) and dinner for the family (as well as occasional guests). The typical schedule is Monday-Thursday (1pm-7pm, approximately 4 to 5 hours daily- dinner is typically at 6/6:30PM), and the occasional Friday. The candidate will work in a home with an existing nanny and family assistant. The family is interviewing now, and the start date will be August. 

 

Responsibilities

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Preparing meals for the household, including planning menus and shopping for food items
  • Focused on healthy/organic for at least 4 family members, guests occasionally
  • Prep lunch in advance (for children to bring to school); and principals as needed
  • Consult with clients to identify their dietary needs and taste preferences
  • Plan meals that align with those preferences and requirements
  • Shop for ingredients (going to fish markets, prioritizing only whole foods and natural ingredients)
  • Prepare a wide variety of nutritious and satisfying meals, comfortable with feedback and testing out new recipes
  • Leave heating instructions for clients to follow as necessary
  • Maintaining the cleanliness of a home by wiping down surfaces, clearing the table, cleaning kitchen floors, and keeping kitchen clean in general
  • Additional duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Highest level of discretion
  • At least 3 years in a similar household position
  • A track record of tenure within a UHNW household with verifiable references
  • Ability to identify healthy, nutritious foods from reliable sources
  • Comfortable working in a non-smoking household

Requirements

  • Culinary certificate or training preferred
  • Prior experience in a similar role
  • Ability to occasionally lift 15lbs
  • Ability to navigate household space, including stairs
  • Occasional travel may be required to the family's CT residence 
  • Driver's license and/or passport
  • Legal to work in the U.S.

 

 

Salary and Benefits

The family is offering an hourly rate of $45+ commensurate with experience
