Overview

A lovely, welcoming family seeks a live-out nanny for two children aged 7-years and 5-years.  This is very much a shared care role - both parents work from home and Mum is present and active in her children's lives, so candidates must be comfortable tag-teaming with Mum and playing a support role when needed.  The schedule is likely to be mostly afternoons during term time (eg from 2pm-7pm), with longer days during school holidays and half terms.  The parents understand that this might complicate things for potential candidates and so are happy to offer a full-time salary, even if the successful candidate doesn't work full-time hours every week.  Bearing in mind the schedule is likely to change from week to week, flexibility will be essential, and the parents would also appreciate a candidate who can offer babysitting a couple of times a month, or occasional weekend help if needed.

Responsibilities

The children are bright, curious, and enjoy being outdoors as much as possible.  The ideal candidate will know how to really engage with the children's interests and imagination, will encourage and support their creativity, will share their thirst for knowledge develop their enquiring minds, and will challenge their ideas and points of view.  Additionally, responsibilties will include:

  • All the usual household duties pertaining to the two children, including keeping their areas clean and tidy, organising their wardrobes and belongings etc
  • Meal planning and simple cooking for the family
  • Accompanying the children on outings and to activities when needed
  • Helping with school runs and supporting with the education and development of both children
  • Some domestic travel during holidays (expect to spend a few nights away from London)
  • Supporting emotional, cognitive, and developmental milestones

Requirements

  • A lovely, friendly and positive personality who is adept at reading the room
  • Previous experience with a similar age-group
  • A confident driver is preferable but not essential
  • Confident cook, able to prepare simple but healthy meals
  • Able to accompany the family for 3-4 days at a time when they leave London (accommodation provided)
  • Prior teaching experience would be a bonus but again, isn't essential
  • Flexible and adaptable, comfortable with a moveable schedule, and different ages and interests
  • Active and energetic, very hands-on and a pitch-in approach to the role
