Overview

First-time parents located in West Village, NYC, are seeking a confident and experienced newborn care specialist to provide 24/7 support as they welcome their first child, expected on or around December 14th 2026. The term will be a minimum of 16 weeks with the option to extend. Candidates should ideally be willing to provide a comprehensive handover to a full-time nanny/ nanny team when the time comes. The parents require 24-hour cover (and prefer not to commit to a 4-hour daily break). They are therefore open to a ROTA schedule shared between 2 x NCS candidates, which could either be 12-hour nights/ 12-hour days, or 4 days on/ 4 days off, or 1 week on/ 1 week off. For the purpose of ensuring both candidates receive sufficient rest, they would prefer to not extend this ROTA beyond 7 consecutive days.

The family is looking for a calm, knowledgeable professional who can confidently guide them through the newborn stage while helping establish healthy routines and providing reassurance during this exciting transition into parenthood.

Candidates should ideally be able to start 1-2 weeks earlier, in the event that baby arrives early. Candidates should be willing to travel to Texas with the parents when the baby is born (where they will likely spend 1-2 weeks).

Responsibilities

The Newborn Care Specialist will play a key role in supporting both the baby and parents during the early postpartum period. Responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring the baby’s safety, comfort, and overall well-being at all times
  • Establishing and implementing healthy sleep habits and age-appropriate overnight routines that parents can confidently continue after the contract concludes
  • Providing thoughtful guidance and practical strategies to help maintain consistent daytime and nighttime schedules, setting the baby up for long-term sleep success
  • Assisting with overnight feedings and newborn care, including diapering, soothing, burping, and maintaining cleanliness and hygiene
  • Supporting the mother’s breastfeeding goals by assisting with feedings and helping create a smooth overnight routine
  • Offering general newborn-related support and education to first-time parents, helping them build confidence and familiarity with infant care
  • Maintaining clear communication with the family regarding the baby’s sleep, feeding, and overall overnight progress

Qualifications

Candidates should possess:

  • A minimum of 6 years of verifiable experience working as a Newborn Care Specialist
  • Extensive experience providing 24/7 care and support for newborns and first-time parents
  • Outstanding professional references that demonstrate reliability, discretion, warmth, and expertise
  • A calm, proactive, and collaborative approach to supporting families during the newborn stage
  • Prior experience working with babies born via surrogacy is a plus, though not essential

Requirements

  • Valid U.S. Passport, Green Card, or Employment Authorization Card (EAC)
  • Current vaccinations, including Flu, RSV, Tdap, and MMR
  • Current Infant/Child CPR and First Aid certification
  • Must be pet friendly (the family have are 2 x dogs - both Cavalier King Charles Spaniels)
  • Comfortable working in a fragrance-free home.
  • Non-smoker / smoke-free lifestyle
  • Availability to commit to the full contract term
  • Candidates should be willing to travel to Texas with the parents when the baby is born (where they will likely spend 1-2 weeks)
