Overview

A warm, high-profile family is seeking an exceptional full-time nanny to care for their 15-month-old son. The general schedule will be Monday through Friday, from 8 am–4 pm, though the family will guarantee 50 hours per week to allow for occasional flexibility, including date nights or schedule adjustments. If fewer than 50 hours are worked in any given week, the nanny will still receive full guaranteed compensation.

The family typically spends mid-June through the end of August in the Hamptons and would love for the nanny to join them there. During the Summer months, the family is happy to accommodate a reduced three-day-per-week schedule to allow for commuting and personal flexibility, with transportation costs fully covered. Occasional weekend flexibility for dinners or events is appreciated.

The family is planning to expand within the next 6 months and hopes to find someone seeking a long-term role who can grow alongside the family. International travel is also part of the role, including winter trips to St. Barts, where the family maintains a home.

This is not a fully hands-off household; the parents are engaged and involved. The role is best suited for someone who can confidently take initiative while also intuitively stepping back when appropriate. The ideal candidate is professional, proactive, nurturing, highly discreet, and genuinely passionate about child development and family support.

Responsibilities

  • Provide attentive, developmentally focused care for the family’s toddler, ensuring a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment.
  • Plan and prepare healthy, age-appropriate meals and snacks for the child, with occasional family cooking appreciated (if the candidate enjoys and is willing to do this).
  • Maintain and thoughtfully adjust routines and schedules in partnership with the parents.
  • Create engaging, screen-free activities that encourage development, creativity, movement, and outdoor exploration.
  • Keep the child fully engaged and supported with active, present care — minimal phone use while working is expected.
  • Take initiative in organizing child-related spaces, tidying play areas, and maintaining order throughout the day.
  • Confidently take the child on outings, including walks, parks, appointments, classes, and age-appropriate activities.
  • Recommend developmentally appropriate toys, activities, and learning opportunities.
  • Support the child through developmental milestones and transitions with calm, informed, and consistent care.
  • Travel domestically and internationally with the family as needed, helping maintain continuity of routines and care across locations.
  • Provide occasional mother’s helper-style support, including errands or small household tasks related to the child.
  • Communicate clearly and thoughtfully with parents regarding the child’s progress, routines, and developmental observations.
  • Work collaboratively within a fully staffed home environment alongside the family’s full-time housekeeper, who manages laundry for the child and deeper household upkeep.

Qualifications

  • Career nanny with substantial recent infant and toddler experience, ideally within high-profile or fully staffed households.
  • Deep understanding of early childhood development and confidence supporting both the infant and toddler stages.
  • Warm, playful, energetic, and genuinely engaged with children.
  • Highly professional, discreet, emotionally intelligent, and able to “read the room” within a sophisticated household environment.
  • Organized, proactive, and able to anticipate needs without requiring constant direction.
  • Comfortable balancing autonomy with collaboration alongside involved parents.
  • Strong communicator with excellent judgment, professionalism, and reliability.
  • Experience supporting milestones such as sleep transitions, potty training, and toddler development preferred.
  • Spanish-speaking or bilingual candidates are a plus, though not required.
  • Seeking someone looking for a meaningful long-term commitment with a family.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of recent professional infant/toddler nanny experience.
  • Prior experience working in high-profile or private households strongly preferred.
  • Valid U.S. passport, Green Card, or EAC.
  • Flexible, travel-ready, and willing to travel both domestically and internationally
  • Up to date on Flu, RSV, Tdap, and MMR vaccinations.
  • Comfortable working in a fragrance-free home.
  • Infant and child CPR certification

  • Non-smoker / smoke-free lifestyle

  • Available to start ASAP.

Salary and Benefits

  • $40–$50/hour
  • Guaranteed 50-hour work week.
  • Transportation assistance provided, e.g., MetroCard, Amtrak, or relevant commuting costs.
  • Private living area/wing provided in the Hamptons (still part of the family home + no kitchen)
  • Healthcare stipend
