Overview

A lovely family in Port Imperial, NJ is seeking an exceptional live-out nanny in September for their new baby who will be about 6 weeks old at the start.  These first-time parents are excited to build a respectful, collaborative relationship with an experienced nanny. They deeply value kindness, open communication, and treating their nanny as an important member of their child’s support team.

Mom is a physician with a varying schedule so the family will guarantee 100-110 hours per month (exact number to be determined once mom is back at work). Typically, she is on call every day for a week and then off the following week. The nanny’s workdays would be 8am-5pm though some flexibility for evenings, with notice would be appreciated. They are looking for a warm and professional nanny who will stay with their family long-term and wants to support their baby's growth, watch baby grow, and keep a calm and child focused environment.

Responsibilities

  • Full child care: Providing a warm and loving environment, care and engagement of the child including enrichment with an emphasis on child-led play, reading, music, language development, and age-appropriate developmental activities. Parents plan to have a screen free home around baby.
  • Providing daily updates regarding feeding, sleep, diapers, developmental milestones, and activities using Baby Connect.
  • Coordinating schedules for naps, bottles and eventually solids, and activities
  • Helping with the child’s laundry and with light child meal preparation once age appropriate
  • Nursery duties including managing the tidiness and organization of the child's space and restocking baby items such as diapers and wipes
  • No family housekeeping required

Qualifications

  • Extremely reliable! Both parents have demanding careers and will rely heavily on the nanny.
  • Warm and nurturing personality
  • Team player with excellent communication who is happy to partner and collaborate with parents. Some days mom may have flexibility to come home between patients and dad typically works hybrid (home office and out of the home other days)
  • Excited to work with the infant to toddler age, know ages and stages, and what developmental milestones are coming next
  • A driver’s license would be ideal but not required
  • Safety minded and up to date on best practices for safe sleep, feeding, etc.
  • A degree in early childhood education or child psychology would be a huge plus

Requirements

  • At least five years of experience working with infants including newborns
  • Willingness to practice strict hand hygiene and wear a mask in the home if returning from travel.
  • Comfortable caring for child in case of routine illnesses. Parents will communicate clearly regarding contagious illnesses and expectations.
  • Infant and child CPR and first aid certification, or willing to renew before start date if expired
  • Tech savvy (BabyConnect, calendar, etc.)
  • Legal to work in the US
  • Willing to follow American Academy of Pediatrics vaccination guidelines. Must have up to date Tdap, Covid (including applicable boosters) and Flu before starting
  • Already local/commuting distance from Port Imperial/Weehawken
