Overview

A warm, thoughtful family in Lincoln Park, Chicago is seeking a Full-Time Family Assistant to support the daily logistics of their busy household and help create a smooth, organized rhythm to family life.

The role is designed to support the broader needs of the household and older children while allowing mom to remain primarily focused on caring for the family’s newborn. The Family Assistant will help manage after-school routines, household organization, and day-to-day coordination while occasionally stepping in with the baby as needed.

While the primary focus of the role is supporting the household and older children, the Family Assistant should also feel comfortable providing full care for the infant when needed, including occasional extended daytime coverage and support during travel. Experience caring for young infants and maintaining feeding and sleep routines is important.

The family values kindness, mutual respect, and raising children who are thoughtful, self-aware, and confident in who they are. They take a gentle but firm approach to parenting, emphasizing accountability, emotional awareness, and strong character. They hope to find someone who naturally models these values and can help reinforce structure, responsibility, and organization in a supportive way.

The household is active and enjoys spending time outdoors. The family lives in a vibrant, walkable neighborhood with easy access to parks, playgrounds, sports fields, and cultural activities around the city. An ideal candidate enjoys being out and about, engaging children in the world around them, and helping maintain a positive, energetic household environment.

The schedule will generally be Monday through Friday from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM, guaranteeing 40 hours per week. One standing date night will take place weekly (ideally Tuesday evenings), during which the schedule may shift slightly to approximately 2:00 PM–9:00 PM.

During summer months, hours may shift slightly to 9:00 AM–5:00 PM or 10:00 AM–6:00 PM depending on camp schedules. Some evening, occasional weekend, and overnight coverage may be requested with advance notice.

The family is seeking a thoughtful, highly organized professional who enjoys supporting children’s growth and helping a household run smoothly. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working closely with families and is interested in building a long-term role.

This is an ASAP hire.
