Overview

A private family is seeking a talented, health-conscious Private Chef to join their household team in New York City, with a seasonal transition to the Hamptons during the summer months and occasionally throughout the year. This is a long-term opportunity for a chef who values clean, seasonal cooking, thoughtful sourcing, sustainability, and individualized dining that supports a family committed to an active and healthy lifestyle- without sacrificing flavor or creativity. The ideal candidate is deeply aligned with a farm-to-table philosophy, highly organized, cost-aware, without compromising quality, and experienced in

managing food allergies with precision and care.

September–May (NYC-Based):

  • Sunday through Thursday dinners
  • Occasional flexibility for holidays or special events

June, July & August:

  •  Primarily Hamptons-based, with occasional days in NYC
  •  Some lunch preparation during summer months
  • Expectation of somewhat regular guests
  • Execution and oversight of multiple special events / group outings that may include breakfast,
    lunch, and/or dinner
    The chef must be:
  •  Willing and happy to spend most – if not all – of June, July, and August in the Hamptons with
    occasional visits throughout the year
  •  Comfortable staying in the family’s home while in the Hamptons (housing provided), or
arranging their own alternative housing if preferred

Responsibilities

  • Prepare full dinners for a family of four, with one child leaving for college in the fall
  •  Accommodate individual preferences / personalized meals as requested
  •  Willingness to prepare simple, healthy lunches to-go if requested
  • Maintain easy grab-and-go items (fresh fruit, overnight oats, baked goods and pre-cooked lean
proteins such as grilled chicken slices)
  • Plan weekly menus in advance and manage grocery lists accordingly
  • Shop for ingredients thoughtfully, sourcing high-quality, farm fresh, organic, seasonal products
and proteins while remaining mindful of cost and minimizing waste
  • Maintain awareness of dietary restrictions and food allergies. One child has Celiac disease and
cannot consume gluten or gluten-contaminated products, and is also allergic to eggs and
mustard/mustard seed. Strict attention to cross-contamination and ingredient sourcing is essential.
  • Consistently deliver delicious, well-presented meals using high-quality, health-forward ingredients and thoughtful preparation
and storage techniques. They should also be proficient with a range of culinary tools and techniques,
including preparing items such as homemade pasta, fresh sorbet, and more.
  •  Keep the kitchen impeccably clean after meal preparation, including all appliances and tools
    used, counter tops, floors, etc.
  • Set the dinner table and provide a respectful, discreet, service-oriented presence (formal service
    required for special events only)
  • Occasionally plan and execute larger dinners, holiday gatherings, or special events in NYC or the
Hamptons. This may include menu development, advanced prep, coordination with household
staff, and identifying and/or managing additional temporary service support when needed.

The family is looking for a candidate who values a similar approach - clean, whole-food home cooking with an emphasis on quality ingredients (organic, free range, fresh)

  • Fresh, whole-food home cooking with an emphasis on quality ingredients (organic, free range or
