Overview

A VIP family in Jordan is seeking a highly skilled and meticulous seamstress. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in high-end garment construction and a deep understanding of luxury fabrics. You will be responsible for ensuring items- from daywear to delicate evening wear- are perfectly fitted and impeccably maintained. There is also another seamstress whom you will be working alongside.
 
The schedule is to be determined, but will be 5 days per week with 10-hour days. Flexibility is required for any last-minute requirements or when traveling.
 
This is a live-out position, and accommodation and transportation will be provided.
 
The position will include occasional travel with the family.

Responsibilities

  • Bespoke Alterations: Perform expert fittings and complex alterations on luxury garments, including suits, evening gowns, and designer ready-to-wear clothing.
  • Wardrobe Maintenance: Inspect clothing for minor damage, replace buttons/zippers, and mend seams to maintain original quality.
  • Fabric Care: Advise the family and laundry staff on the proper care, cleaning, and storage of specific high-value textiles.
  • Inventory and Supplies: Maintain an organized inventory of sewing supplies, threads, and high-quality fabrics.
  • Discretion: Operate with the highest standards of confidentiality and respect for the family's privacy.

Qualifications

  • Formal education in fashion design or garment construction.
  • Experience with specialized techniques like embroidery or textile restoration.
  • Clean background check and excellent references from previous high-net-worth employers.

Requirements

  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in high-end tailoring, bridal, designer, or private household service.
  • Technical Mastery: Proficient in hand-stitching, pattern drafting, and operating industrial sewing machines.
  • Material Knowledge: Expertise in working with a wide range of fabrics, including silk, lace, leather, and fine wool.
  • Attention to Detail: Exceptional eye for fit, drape, and finishing details.
  • Communication: Ability to communicate clearly with family members and other household staff.
  • Longevity: Willingness to grow with the family
