A friendly, welcoming Madrid-based family seeks a fantastic, pro-active live-in or live-out nanny to care for 2 children.  The position is very much focused on engaging the children in learning and their continuing development, and will involve some tutoring as well (hopefully!).   The schedule will likely be Monday through Friday, 11am-7pm, and please be open to reasonably regular travel.

The parents are very hands-on with their children's upbringing and Mum will likely be around, so candidates must be comfortable with a regular shared-care situation and with tag-teaming with the parents when appropriate. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Engaging in age-appropriate activities with both children (aged 5-years and 6-years) and supporting their general social, emotional and physical development
• Developing a Montessori-style environment to promote independence and self-direction
• Some tutoring and/or homework support once the children are in school
• Regular play-based learning, and involving the children in fun, educational projects and activities
• Tutoring both children when appropriate
• Continuing to foster both children's curiosity and enjoyment in the world around them
• Working alongside other staff to ensure children's areas and items are clean, tidy and organised
• Staying on top of schedules, making sure the right items are packed in the right bags, and that things are prepared for the day ahead
• Lots of art and craft activities, as well as developing their musicality

• Native English or French speakers
• Artistic and creative
• Familiar with a Montessori approach, preferably having studied it or spent time working in a Montessori nursery
• Kind, empathetic, trustworthy and friendly
• Familiar with working alongside parents and as part of a household team
• Flexible around hours and able to travel regularly with the family
• Full of initiative, only needing to be told something once
• Naturally curious and fun-loving, with a knack for sparking the children's curiosity and with encouraging them to thrive and excel
• Passionate about learning and enthusiastic, thoughtful and creative in how they instill this in children
• Open to following the children's interests and to building on their enthusiasm
• Happy to research ideas and subjects, and to introduce novel and creative approaches to extend interest and learning
• Comfortable around animals
• Confident in and around water with children
