A busy, friendly household seeks a fantastic live-out Senior Housekeeper to manage a large central-London home.  The usual schedule will be 9am-6pm, Monday through Friday, and a little flexibility around occasional weekend or evening help would be much appreciated.  The family has extremely high standards and is seeking a candidate who understands the requirements of a reasonably formal, fully-staffed household and who takes pride in maintaining a beautifully kept home.  

The Senior Housekeeper is responsible for maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness, organisation, and presentation throughout a private residence. This newly created role requires exceptional attention to detail, discretion, and the ability to manage housekeeping operations efficiently to ensure the home is always guest- and family-ready.

The successful candidate will be caring for a 10,000 sq ft townhouse with 5 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms, over 7 storeys.  The successful candidate will take responsibility for ensuring a well-run, organised, and immaculately presented home. This is a hands-on role requiring strong attention to detail, a team-player approach, and effective communication.

• Daily and deep cleaning of all interior spaces to a guest-ready standard, to include vacuuming, mopping, dusting, and tidying
• Household laundry and ironing (when laundress is unavailable)
• Carry out daily, weekly, and deep-cleaning schedules
• Regular changing of bedlinen and towels, ensuring high hospitality standards
• Oversee linen inventory, ensuring adequate stock and proper rotation
• Ensure wardrobes and dressing areas are tidy, organised, and well-maintained where required
• Maintain organised storage areas, cupboards, and utility spaces
• Ensure all housekeeping equipment is clean, maintained, and used correctly
• Oversee the cleanliness and upkeep of entrances, terraces, balconies, bins, and storage areas
• Ensure outdoor spaces are tidy, presentable, and aligned with the overall standard of the residence
• Supervise and support housekeeping staff, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and to a high standard
• Provide training, guidance, and performance oversight to maintain consistency and excellence
• Coordinate with other household staff to ensure smooth day-to-day operations
• Assist with preparation, service support, and post-event cleaning during events or busy periods. (once every 1-2 month)
• Dealing with contractors and vendors when required
• Ensuring proper care of luxury finishes including stone, hardwood, custom cabinetry, and designer fixtures
• Regular inventory check for all grocery items, cleaning supplies, and any other relevant household items
• Report maintenance issues or damages promptly to the House Manager

• Prior experience in a similar private household role
• Knowledge of caring for high-end materials (marble, silver, antiques)
• Comfortable receiving verbal instructions and anticipating needs
• A real sense of pride in your role, ensuring elevated standards and a pristine, organised and welcoming environment
• Organised, proactive, and highly detail-oriented with a meticulous approach
• Child-friendly
• Able to 'read the room' well, comfortable knowing when to step forward and when to keep in the background
