Overview

A professional couple is seeking an experienced and resourceful family/ household assistant for their Brooklyn home. There are no children and no pets, and the principals are open to offering both part-time or full-time hours, depending on the ideal candidate's preference. This is a new role, and candidates should be willing to roll up their sleeves and take ownership of both big and small tasks, recognizing that every detail handled well contributes meaningfully to the smooth running of the household. The ability to keep things organized and running seamlessly in the absence of the principals is essential, as both have very demanding careers. This is an asap start. 

Responsibilities

The role will include both personal and household tasks, as follows:
 
Two times per week (at least, depending on full or part time)
◦ Grocery stocking 
◦ Make sparkling water
◦ Limited meal prep - breakfast and lunch and snacks for first half of the week
◦ Unloading/ loading the dishwasher/putting away dishes
◦ Washing clothes/ironging/ steaming/ putting away clothes (less essential as there is a housekeeper)
◦ Pick up and unpack packages
◦ Tidy apartment (organizing/putting away/taking out recycling - the housekeeper already handles cleaning)
 
Regular but ad hoc tasks
◦ Taking shoes to cobbler (monthly)
◦ Car service organization including airport pickups (weekly)
◦ Sending luggage for trips / possibly helping with packing (monthly)
◦ Organizing dry cleaning (weekly)
◦ Scheduling PT, doctors, hair, spa, etc. as needed (weekly)
◦ Day trips upstate  - replacing batteries in cameras, cleaning smoke detectors, stocking kitchen and pantry) (monthly - principals can coordinate car service or transport - license not needed)
◦ Upstate pool set up (monthly, possibly weekly during summer) 
◦ Errands
◦ Protecting leather items - shoes/bags (monthly)
◦ Jewelry cleaning (monthly)
◦ Watch repair / maintenance (quarterly)
◦ Travel research for trips / booking assistance (weekly)
◦ Purchase gifts (hostess/birthday); send cards
◦ Pick up alterations 
◦ Bills and expenses - tracking (not relevant if part time)
◦ Calendar coordination (weekly) 
◦ Research service providers as needed for Brooklyn home, Brooklyn rental, and upstate home (Ancram)
◦ Assistance with rental apartment tenant requests  - coordinating their repair requests (monthly generally) 
◦ Coordinate with service professionals for 3 properties (Brooklyn home, Brooklyn rental, upstate home)
Coordinate with existing service providers and/or new service providers as needed on HVAC filters, laundry vents, laundry water, well testing, window washing, septic testing, gutter cleaning , winterizing, general repairs, furniture and rug cleaning 

Qualifications

Salary and Benefits

  • $55-65+/hr + all industry standard benefits 
  • Healthcare reimbursement offered to full-time candidates
