Overview

A loving, active family in Miami, Florida, is seeking a warm, experienced, and engaging live-in nanny to provide collaborative care for their one-year-old son. The parents are highly involved in their child’s day-to-day routine, and the ideal candidate will be comfortable sharing responsibility rather than having sole care throughout the day. Flexibility is essential, as there will be days when the role functions more as a “spot check,” with the mother and child spending time together outside of the home. The family also employs a live-out nanny, and schedules may occasionally overlap to ensure consistent and seamless coverage. The live-in nanny may be asked to cover additional shifts as needed in the event of special circumstances. Local Miami candidates may return to their own residence on days off, if preferred. The position is approximately 40 hours per week with two days off. The anticipated schedule may be Wednesday through Sunday (eight-hour days) or Thursday through Sunday (ten-hour days). With advance notice, there will be opportunities for an occasional full weekend off. Accommodations include a private bedroom and bathroom. The ideal candidate is reliable, highly collaborative, and deeply knowledgeable about early childhood development. Above all, this role requires an extremely flexible, team-oriented professional who thrives in a dynamic, hands-on family environment.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Work in partnership with the parents and the co-nanny
  • All aspects of full-charge care when required
  • Ensuring the safety and well-being of the child by providing attentive care
  • Maintain all daily routines: naps, meals, and activity schedules

  • Support developmental milestones through tracking and active participation
  • Provide a warm, structured, and nurturing environment
  • Maintain open communication with parents and the co-nanny regarding the child’s activities, behavior, and development
  • Help with light cooking for the family and general tidying up would be a plus

Qualifications

  • Prior experience caring for infants through elementary-school-aged children in a career nanny role.
  • Deep understanding of infant development and the ability to proactively meet the child’s needs
  • The parents are actively involved, and the candidate must know when to fade in and out of the background while still tending to child-related tasks, and know when to step back in, especially when the family is sharing an intimate moment
  • Have a level of sophistication when interacting and addressing the family’s broader family and guests
  • Emotionally intelligent, professional, and discreet
  • Strong team player who is also capable of taking initiative while being respectful of parents’ wishes
  • Friendly positive demeanor
  • Active and engaging
  • Ability to provide structure and consistency in a loving and kind manner
  • Intuitive and thoughtful approach
  • Excellent communicator and fluent in English
  • Spanish-speaking a plus, but not required

Requirements

  • Comfortable and confident in and around water and on a boat (strong swimmer)
