Overview

A wonderful family in Princeton, NJ (a returning client of BAHS), with time spent in lower Manhattan (approximately once per month), are seeking a full-time, live-out nanny for their two children, aged 4.5 and 7.5-years. Candidates may also live-in during the week and live-out on weekends, if they prefer. The schedule will be Monday through Friday, from 7am-7pm (with a break from childcare from 9am-1pm when both children are at school). On days when there is no school, hours will be 8am-6pm Monday through Friday. This is an asap start.

Responsibilities

  • Responsibilities will pertain to the care and development of the children, to include; their laundry, meal/snack/packed lunch prep, and daily lunch prep for the 4 year old (who likes fresh cut veggies and fruit, a sandwich, boiled egg whites, etc.), keeping their play areas/bedrooms tidy, and planning play-dates and activities etc.
  • Both children attend school from 7:45am-3pm (7 year old) and 8:25-2:45pm (4 year old). During this time, candidates would be expected to help with meal/snack/lunch box prep, organizing their closets/play areas, prepping dinner at least 3 nights per week, and creating activities for the children to do in the afternoon.

Qualifications

  • The family spend 2-months of the year in Europe (usually from mid-end of June to mid-end of August). They spend approximately 3 of these weeks traveling around Europe more generally, and the rest of the time in Sweden. They also travel both domestically and internationally throughout the year (Miami/Caribbean, etc.). Candidates absolutely must be willing to travel with the family, for which they will receive an additional $150 per travel day, on top of any applicable overtime.
  • The family are not proponents of regular screen time, typically only allowing this after dinner and bath time, when they sit down with the children themselves and enjoy some snuggle/TV time.
  • Both parents work (mom works from home/ is in graduate school so her schedule is flexible), though are as hands-on as possible, so candidates should know when to step-up and when to step back and keep busy doing other things while they spend quality time with the children.

Requirements

  • US passport, Green Card or EAC
  • Candidates should be professional, warm, and intentional, really getting down on the children's level and engaging them.
  • The family are warm, kind, and informal, but they do appreciate candidates respecting boundaries.
  • Candidates should ideally have a relevant educational background, such as Child Development, Early Childhood Education or other/equivalent specialized experience. The parents do spend time away from the children once per quarter, and the children’s grandparents typically stay during those periods (generally no longer than 4 nights), so candidates must be comfortable working collaboratively with extended family.
  • To iterate, comfort with extended family is really important, especially as the family live 10 minutes from their grandparents, who will frequently do school pick ups/drop offs and take the children to activities
  • The family have a small breed dog (12lbs and not likely to grow any more). He is fully potty trained, neutered, and a very sweet boy. They would require the nanny to be comfortable taking the dog on walks a few times per week or once a day and sometimes giving him his prepared meals.
  • Only those candidates who are flu vaccinated are eligible to apply to this role.
  • Candidates MUST drive and have their own vehicle, and be a safe and conscientious driver, as they would be driving to/from school and activities for at least one child (in NJ area - not in the City).

Salary and Benefits

  • $40-45+/hr, health insurance reimbursement, monthly metrocard and a 401k option for those candidates who are seeking this.
