Overview

Lovely family seeking career live-in nanny to care for their toddler in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The family is seeking a reliable and caring nanny to provide exceptional childcare for their active toddler. The ideal candidate will be integral to the child’s development, well-being, and emotional growth. The nanny must be proactive, attentive to the child’s needs, and able to follow instructions closely.

This is a full-time, Monday through Friday 9am-5pm position with opportunities for growth and long-term employment. The ideal candidate will be flexible to work some weekends and evenings and be required to do both domestic and international travel. This role also includes light household duties and personal errands, as needed, especially as the child gets older. 

Responsibilities

Childcare & Development:

  • Prepare and serve meals for the child
  • Sanitize and clean baby-related items
  • Manage laundry, ensuring that the child’s clothing and linens are clean and properly cared for
  • Ensure all items used for the child, including personal laundry detergent, are fragrance-free
  • Assist with maintaining the child’s hygiene and grooming routine, promoting independence 
  • Monitor and support the child’s developmental milestones and activities, including participation in swimming classes
  • Engage with the child through educational toys, music, and books to encourage cognitive and emotional development. 
  • Follow the child’s cues, such as hunger or tiredness, and respond accordingly
  • Maintain a no-screen-time policy to support healthy development

 

Educational and Governess Duties: 

  • Develop and guide early learning through structured lessons in language, colors, numbers, music, and basic manners
  • Foster curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking through age-appropriate educational play
  • Plan enriching activities that encourage independence, confidence, and problem-solving skills
  • Introduce early literacy concepts and vocabulary building through books and interactive dialogue
  • Encourage bilingual development (English and Spanish), ensuring correct pronunciation and sentence structure
  • Promote proper etiquette, good manners, and respectful communication
  • Keep a developmental and educational log to report milestones and progress to the parents
  • Assist with the child’s transition into formal education when appropriate

Household Assistance:

  • Maintain tidiness and cleanliness in the kitchen and living areas, ensuring a calm and organized environment for the family
  • Assist with household and personal errands as needed (grocery shopping, etc.), ensuring all tasks are completed efficiently and with care
  • Monitor the supply of baby products (such as snacks, medication, wipes, diapers, etc.) and inform the family when restocking is necessary

 

Travel:

  • Provide childcare support during local, domestic, and international travel, as required
  • Provide travel support for family (such as packing, setting up rooms, and sourcing items, i.e., cribs, highchairs, playpens, diapers, humidifiers, other perishable items)
  • Travel will be local, domestic and international travel, about 3-4 times per year for 2+ weeks travel, and around 1x per year for 4+ weeks travel. Travel will often be on short notice so candidates must be excited and willing to travel often

Confidentiality & Professionalism:

  • Adhere to a professional code of conduct, maintaining discretion and confidentiality in all personal and sensitive situations or conversations.

Qualifications

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to strictly follow parental instructions and collaborate closely with the family
  • Compassionate, patient, and proactive nature
  • Flexible availability for some evening duties and occasional weekends for family activities
  • Someone who can offer both practical care and emotional support for the family while maintaining a high level of professionalism
  • Ideally a candidate with experience teaching or background in childhood education, specifically Montessori would be ideal

Requirements

  • Fluent in Spanish and English 
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a nanny or in a similar childcare role
  • Current CPR certification, or willing to certify
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Willingness to undergo background check and reference check
  • Degree in early childhood education or development
  • Sign a nondisclosure agreement
  • Work authorization in the U.S.
  • Willingness and flexibility to travel as needed. Travel will bel local, domestic and international travel, about 3-4 times per year for 2+ weeks travel, and around 1x per year for 4+ weeks travel
  • Valid passport required

Salary and Benefits

  • $40-48 per hour depending on experience and education
