Overview

A busy Upper East Side family is in search of a top-notch house manager/houseman to help run their 7-story brownstone. This is a fully-staffed home with many moving pieces and people. The schedule is Monday through Friday and requires flexibility. 

Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with a large team, including multiple housekeepers, nannies, chefs, and drivers
  • Manage and maintain inventory of household items, ensuring that all supplies are fully stocked and in good condition
  • Oversee property upkeep, including cleaning, organization, and seasonal maintenance
  • Conduct regular inspections of the property to ensure it meets high-quality standards
  • Run projects and manage events
  • Drive the principal to and from her studio and help with projects at the studio from time to time
  • Coordinate and negotiate with contractors and vendors to ensure timely project completion within budget.
  • Other responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: managing household inventory, restocking essentials such as groceries, cleaning supplies, and other household items, ensuring there are fresh flowers, curating flawless table settings, and providing general support wherever required to ensure a seamless hospitality experience for both family and guests.

Qualifications

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact with high-net-worth individuals, staff, and vendors professionally
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • A hands-on team player who’s ready to take initiative and tackle challenges head-on. No task is too big or too small

Requirements

  • US passport, Green Card, or EAC 
  • Demonstrated history of longevity in previous roles 
  • Exceptional front-of-house sensibilities and a refined understanding of discreet, anticipatory, silent service. 
  • Previous experience managing and coordinating vendor maintenance teams. 
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and after-hours if necessary.

  • $120K-$150K+ depending on experience
