Overview

A warm and welcoming family in East Hampton, NY is seeking a wonderful and experienced infant nanny to care for their newborn son, who will be 4 months old at the start of the position. Both parents work in the city part of the week and are looking for a nurturing, trustworthy, infant-savvy nanny who can become part of their family long-term. They are down-to-earth, value integrity, and prefer a warm, personable nanny who fits their “family feel.” Ideally, they would love to have someone who stays with their family until their son begins school.

The parents commute to NYC 2–3 days most weeks, and the nanny will either remain in East Hampton or accompany the family to their city apartment to provide care. This role may require one overnight per week, not every week but as needed.

Start Date: Late January–Early February

Schedule: Typically 8am–6pm covering the guaranteed 45 hours, with some flexibility required

Responsibilities

  • Full infant care: bottle prep, sterilization, feeding, diapering, soothing, nap/bedtime routines
  • Supporting and helping implement age-appropriate sleep schedules
  • Creating a nurturing and engaging environment with sensory, developmental, and early-learning activities
  • Tracking developmental milestones and communicating updates daily
  • Maintaining all baby-related areas in clean, organized condition
  • Baby laundry and nursery organization
  • Ensuring safety at all times
  • Planning local outings, activities, and enrichment experiences suitable for infants
  • Only baby-related duties are expected

Qualifications

  • Professional newborn/infant experience in private homes
  • Warm, calm, confident, and deeply comfortable with infants
  • Strong understanding of developmental milestones
  • Experience crafting age-appropriate sensory and early-learning activities
  • ECE degree or coursework strongly preferred
  • Excellent communication; collaborative with parents
  • High integrity and discretion

Requirements

  • CPR & First Aid certified
  • Ability to pass a full background check
  • Ability to drive preferred but not required
  • Willingness to commute with the family into NYC when needed
  • No travel required (family travels 3–5 weeks/year without nanny)
  • Legally authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Strong swimmer; comfortable supervising infants near water
  • A second language is a bonus but not required

Salary and Benefits

  • $35–$40/hr + overtime
  • Guaranteed hours
