Overview

A busy and fully staffed home in McLean, VA is seeking a part-time nanny to join their household team. This family values warmth, professionalism, and a calm, capable presence. The ideal candidate will be personable yet grounded—someone who loves working with children and approaches their day with purpose and consistency.

This is a busy but well-organized household with three children, soon to be four children: a 12-year-old boy, a 5-year-old boy, and a 1-year-old girl. The family practices a conversational, respectful parenting style and values gentle but structured guidance. They aim to hire enough support so each child receives attentive, engaged care—this is the top priority of this role.

There is a team of nannies that you will be working with, this is a highly supportive team environment. 

Schedule

  • Approximately 21 hours per week, spread over 3 days (flexible)
  • Preferred core hours: 6am-1pm   
  • The family is flexible on which days, typically between Monday–Thursday, but can occasionally adjust for a Friday if needed
  • Start Date: ASAP

Responsibilities

  • Arrive early to help the 5-year-old with his morning routine and breakfast
  • Assist with the 1-year-old’s breakfast, school routine, and nap schedule
  • Support morning drop-offs(about a 25-minute drive to school) and pick-ups as needed
  • Care for the newborn beginning after the first two months (training provided)
  • Manage transitions between caregivers; coordinate with other nannies during shift overlaps
  • Provide safe, nurturing, and developmentally supportive care for all three children
  • Engage in outdoor play, bike rides, reading, and early literacy activities
  • Maintain tidy, child-related spaces (no heavy cleaning required)
  • Support the team by communicating effectively with co-nannies

Qualifications

 

  • Experience with newborns (or willingness to train)
  • Comfortable working as part of a nanny team
  • Strong communication and reliability
  • Warm but professional demeanor

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of professional childcare experience
  • Legal to work in the U.S.
  • CPR/First Aid certified (or willing to obtain)
  • Driver’s license required (nanny car provided)

Salary and Benefits

  • $40–$50/hour DOE
  • W-2 employment
