Overview

A discreet family in West Village, NYC, is seeking a temporary ROTA nanny to provide care for their 7-month-old baby while their permanent ROTA nanny takes maternity leave, starting October 24th. The term will run for 3 months, and coverage will be split between 2 ROTA nannies, working 24-hour shifts for 7 days on, 7 days off. There may also be occasional domestic or international travel during this period.

 

The ideal candidate will be passionate about infant care, dedicated to creating a nurturing environment, and able to work collaboratively in a team setting.

Responsibilities

Job duties will include care and engagement of the child in developmentally-appropriate activities and outings. Additional duties will include;

  • Provide attentive and high-quality care for a 7-month-old baby
  • Follow the baby’s daily routine (feeding, diaper changes, nap times, playtime).
  • Engage in age-appropriate developmental activities such as tummy time, sensory play, reading, and music.
  • All typical nursery duties will apply - keeping play areas tidy, keeping on top of supplies, removing old toys/ wardrobe items that no longer fit etc.
  • Ensure safety, comfort, safe sleep practices and clean environment for the baby.
  • Collaborate with parents to develop and implement routines that support the baby's developmental needs and adjust as the baby grows.
  • Keep parents updated on baby’s activities, mood, and any notable changes.
  • When traveling, drive the baby to various outings, appointments or activities. Candidate must have a valid drivers license.
  • Manage and replenish inventory of baby-related items, while performing light housekeeping tasks associated with the baby, including bottle cleaning, baby laundry, and maintaining cleanliness and sanitization of baby’s areas
  • Travel with the family to ensure consistent care for the baby during trips, and take responsibility for packing all essential baby-related items, such as clothing, gear, food, and other necessities. Light housekeeping tasks related to the baby will be expected while traveling.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a full-time nanny, especially with infants.
  • Knowledge of infant care, including feeding, sleep routines, developmental milestones, and safety is required
  • Experience working a ROTA position with young children 
  • Must be energetic, proactive, and committed to being fully engaged with the baby at all times
  • Must have a positive attitude
  • Ability to adapt to all environments
  • Have a get it done attitude
  • A passion for teaching and promoting independence is key for this role
  • Full time caregiver when parents travel domestic and internationally. 
  • Must be very organized, clean, punctual, and tidy
  • Willing to work during the holidays. 
  • Feel comfortable traveling domestically and internationally with family. 
  • Working well on a team with involved parents and additional caregivers
  • Fluent in English
  • A degree or certification in Early Childhood Education/Infant Care or equivalent professional experience is a plus

Requirements

  • Legal to work in US & travel internationally
  • Able to swim
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record
  • Must feel comfortable and excited to work collaboratively with other household staff 
  • Flexibility and willingness to travel whenever needed
  • Must be a strong communicator and have a take-charge personality.
  • Desire to make a long-term commitment to a loving and down to earth family 
  • Be able to read the room - know when to step up and step back when the family are having intimate family moments, and exhibit a level of sophistication when addressing the family’s friends and broader family
  • COVID vaccination 

Salary and Benefits

  • $6,000 per week worked.
