An LA-based British family are seeking a short-term British curriculum tutor for their two children, aged 9 and 11 (Key Stage 2), in Los Feliz, LA. The family are relocating to the UK at the end of the year so the opportunity is only temporary and will likely run for ~6 weeks, ideally starting the week commencing October 6th. The schedule will be 4 x morning hours from Monday through Thursday, whereby the candidate will spend 2 hours 1-1 with each child.

• Provide personalized, age-appropriate tutoring in core subjects such as English, Maths, and Science in line with the Key Stage 2 curriculum
• Use interactive and creative teaching methods to maintain attention and make learning enjoyable
• Relevant curriculum support and reinforcement, and help consolidate key concepts
• Assess student understanding through informal quizzes, exercises, and observations
• Identify learning gaps and adjust lesson plans to address specific areas of need
• Teach study habits, organization skills, and how to approach problem-solving independently
• Provide updates to the parents on progress, challenges, and achievements
• Build a trusting, supportive relationship with the children to boost confidence and self-esteem
• Prepare or adapt age-appropriate learning materials, worksheets, and activities tailored to the student’s level and interests
• Integrate games, stories, or visual aids to support different learning styles
• Create a safe, encouraging space where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes
• Foster a growth mindset and love of learning

• Comprehensive and verifiable experience in a similar role
• A solid understanding of the British education system/curriculum
