Overview

A private European family seeks a full-time Head House Manager to lead the current team and oversee all aspects of household operations.  This is a unique, travelling role, accompanying the family as they move location every 3 months or so within the EU.  Candidates must be able to lead a multi-national team, ensuring seamless household management, culinary excellence, and exceptional service standards across multiple residences.

Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Management

  • Directly manage a core team (House Managers, Chefs, Housekeepers etc)
  • Foster a professional, motivated, and service-oriented team culture
  • Conduct onboarding, training, performance reviews, and scheduling

Household Operations

  • Oversee smooth daily operations across multiple international residences
  • Maintain the highest standards of housekeeping, presentation, and service
  • Ensure properties are set up and operational prior to family arrival at each location
  • Liaise with vendors, contractors, and local staff.

Travel & Logistics

  • Coordinate relocations every 3 months, including advance preparation of residences. The family will select the house in advance
  • Manage packing, shipments, and set-up of personal effects
  • Ensure smooth travel support for family and pets

Culinary Oversight

  • Work closely with the Head Chef to plan menus and oversee food and beverage standards
  • Ensure dietary calorie requirements, preferences, and entertaining needs are consistently met

Pet & Family Support

  • Oversee care for 2 family pets, ensuring routines are maintained across moves
  • Support family in social and business entertaining, events, and gatherings

Administration

  • Manage budgets, household accounts, and expenses
  • Negotiate and oversee supplier contracts
  • Ensure compliance with local regulations across EU locations

Requirements

  • Candidates must hold a valid European Union passport, with unrestricted ability to live and work across EU member states
  • Minimum 8–10 years in luxury private households or estates, with at least 3 years in a senior management role
  • Excellent command of English (written and spoken); additional European languages a plus
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities
  • Impeccable organisational and logistical skills
  • High level of discretion, professionalism, and confidentiality
  • Culturally adaptable with strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to travel frequently and adapt quickly to new environments
  • Service-minded, proactive, and committed to long-term placement
