Overview

A lovely family primarily located in the Bahamas are seeking a full-time Educator or Nanny with a background in early childhood education to support the education, development, and daily care of their 3-year-old child. The schedule will be 40 hours per week guaranteed, 5 days a week. The candidate will be a Teacher first, and a Nanny rarely, as the family also employs a nanny. The ideal candidate will bring the mindset of an educator into the home, creating a nurturing, structured, and stimulating environment while also meeting the physical demands of a busy toddler’s day. The family places a strong emphasis on cultivating emotional intelligence, independence, and secure attachment. They value parenting approaches that encourage children to thrive as whole individuals, guided by philosophies such as those in Good Inside (Dr. Becky) and the ideas from the Taking Children Seriously movement. They also value health and nutrition, and want the Educator/Nanny to be aligned with these values and see themselves as a partner in nurturing a thoughtful, resilient, and confident child. The position is open to to any candidate who meets the required criteria.

Responsibilities

  • Create activities and lesson plans focused on reading and numeracy.
  • Engage in active, developmentally appropriate play and structured learning activities.
  • Plan and implement early childhood education activities based on the child’s evolving needs and interests.
  • Encourage the child’s independence and curiosity while supporting emotional awareness and healthy self-expression.
  • Accompany and supervise the child on walks, playground visits, and other outings.
  • Handle meal prep, feeding, hygiene, and general care related to the child.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized child-centered environment.
  • Communicate regularly and professionally with parents regarding progress and observations.
  • Assist with occasional family travel or extended hours as pre-agreed.

  • Can create a positive learning environemnt, with the knowledge that this is not a "part of the family" type of position

Requirements

  • Formal classroom experience as a preschool or kindergarten teacher (private or public school setting).
  • Pediatric First Aid Certification
  • Prior nanny or private family experience with Canadian, American, or British families.
  • Fluent English speaker with excellent communication and writing skills.
  • Physically fit and active, capable of keeping up with a highly energetic child. Physical fitness is mandatory for this role.
  • Driver's license and clear driving record.
  • Able to apply for a work permit in the Bahamas and travel in the US and internationally when needed.

Salary and Benefits

  • Salary is based on experience, range is $90k-$120k
  • Housing or housing stipend is provided
  • Standard benefits are provided
