Overview

A busy family in Brooklyn is seeking a smart, energetic, and responsible part-time nanny to assist their FT nanny in caring for their 3 children after school. Primary responsibility will be to pick up one of their three children from school and provide afternoon care. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 2:30pm – 7:00pm, with some flexibility required. The position begins ASAP.

The role will include school pick-up, accompanying them home for a snack, homework support, and escorting them to after-school activities. The family values someone confident navigating New York City, as the position requires regularly taking the child on the subway or in an Uber.

Start date: ASAP

Responsibilities

  • School pickup at 3pm and transport home or to activities
  • Preparing and serving snacks/dinner (already prepared by the full-time nanny)
  • Homework supervision and academic support
  • Escorting to after-school activities (often in Brooklyn Heights)
  • Overseeing allergy-safe eating practices
  • Engaging the child with a positive, responsible, and proactive approach

Qualifications

  • Highly trustworthy 
  • Experience working with or caring for school-aged children in NYC
  • Comfortable navigating public transportation and rideshares with children
  • Reliable, smart, and able to support homework in a structured way
  • Warm, energetic, and responsible personality
  • Comfortable caring for 3 children on the occasion that other nanny is not available for work that day

Requirements

  • Must be confident managing allergies and following safety protocols
  • Familiar with public transportation 
  • Legal to work in the US

Salary and Benefits

  • $35–$45/hour, depending on experience
  • Part-time, guaranteed hours: Monday–Friday, 2:30pm – 7pm
