Overview

A warm and social family in Nashville, TN is seeking two ROTA Family Assistant/Companions to support their 20-year-old son who has epilepsy, which is currently well-managed, no seizures in over a year, but has developmental delays due to the epilepsy. The schedule can be either one-week-on/one-week-off or two-weeks-on/two-weeks-off, and the role includes both home-based support in Nashville as well as domestic and international travel. The start date is ASAP.

Their son is a funny, engaging, and sweet young adult. He is developmentally delayed but verbal and social, and he thrives with structure, companionship, and proactive engagement in daily activities. The family is looking for professional, energetic, and compassionate companions who can help with life skills, daily reminders, and staying active and engaged, while also supporting the household. Other than managing simple medication there is no other medical needs for the role.

This is a unique opportunity for someone who enjoys being part of a close-knit, casual household where humor and warmth are highly valued. The family has 3 loving and fun dogs.

Responsibilities

  • Providing companionship and proactive engagement (reading, games, basketball, music, outings, etc.)
  • Supporting daily routine: medication reminders, personal hygiene, mealtime structure, and physical activity
  • Driving him to his trainer, activities, and appointments
  • Planning and encouraging stimulating activities to ensure he stays active and social
  • Running errands, grocery shopping, light/simple cooking, and organizational household support
  • Coordinating with household staff and assisting with vendors as needed
  • Offering support during domestic and international travel
  • Ensuring safety and wellbeing by providing awareness and balance without overwhelming him

Qualifications

  • Professional, energetic, compassionate, and proactive personality
  • Prior experience with young adults, developmental delays, or special needs is strongly preferred
  • Must be comfortable building rapport and meeting at his developmental and emotional level
  • Strong communication and organizational skills; able to balance independence with support
  • Flexible, travel-ready, and able to live-in during scheduled rotations
  • Swimming skills preferred but not required
  • Comfortable in a casual, social household environment with pets
  • Positive, social personality with a sense of humor — the family is talkative, friendly, and enjoys an upbeat atmosphere

Requirements

  • Legal to work in the US
  • Driver’s license with clean record (car provided for on-duty use)
  • Current passport and ability to travel domestic and international

Salary and Benefits

  • $100,000 – $130,000 annually, DOE
  • Rotational live-in schedule (private bedroom and bath provided)
  • Stipend negotiable
