Overview

A kind and active family in Palo Alto, CA is seeking an experienced and proactive full-time live-out career nanny/family assistant to care for their two children ages 3 and 6. The children are in school Monday through Thursday 9am-3pm and Fridays 8am-12pm. The ideal start date is asap. The general schedule is:

Mondays 11am-7pm (ideally Monday is a split shift with the candidate coming in the morning for a couple of hours but the family is open to discussing this)
Tuesdays and Wednesdays 12 pm-7pm
Thursdays 12-730 pm 
Fridays 12-6pm 

Family will guarantee 40 hours per week. Occasional evening coverage, with notice, is appreciated if the nanny is open to additional hours. Travel is optional but would include Tahoe in the summer and Hawaii in the winter. This is a warm and respectful household looking for someone who can transition to more household responsibilities as the children get older. A long-term relationship is important to them, and they value collaboration and mutual support.

Responsibilities

The position is mostly family assistant with some childcare needed. Most of the childcare revolves around driving the children in provided family care, and planning and attending activities, classes, and play-dates with the children. Additional responsibilities include:

  • Helping with homework
  • Purchasing and restocking children's items
  • Managing children's calendar including scheduling appointments for the children
  • Cooking for the children
  • Children's laundry
  • Light housekeeping, mostly related to the children's areas and common spaces in the home

Family assistant responsibilities, which are secondary/as time allows:

  • Family laundry
  • Meal preparation and cooking for the family including grocery shopping
  • Planning child-related events like birthday parties 
  • Scheduling vendors and service personnel
  • Vehicle maintenance and upkeep

Qualifications

  • Very proactive personality, someone who is a self-starter and operates independently (does not need a lot of guidance/hand holding as both parents have busy careers)
  • Team player with great communication 
  • Bilingual in English and a second language would be nice to have but not required
  • Nice to have: willing to travel

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree 
  • Comfortable with a parent working from home
  • Tech savvy: using email, Google calendar, online ordering, etc.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record. Vehicle provided for any work related driving
  • TrustLine registry, or willing to register 
  • Must have or be willing to obtain before starting, up-to-date vaccinations, including MMR, Tdap, and flu vaccinations

Salary and Benefits

$45-50 per hour. Benefits include PTO, paid sick time, paid holidays
