A high-profile client in Menlo Park, CA (Bay Area) is seeking a full-time live-out chef. The schedule needs to be very flexible but will ideally be 5-6 days a week for lunch and dinner and/or breakfast service if other chefs are unavailable. It is highly preferred the candidate to hire resides within 45 minutes of Menlo Park currently. They could consider making an allowance for someone amazing who is not within 45 minutes of Menlo Park. They prefer a candidate already in CA or the NY area (and if in NY already, then willing to live in CA for 6 months of the year over Winter/Spring). Ideally, the candidate to hire has a commute within 45 minutes to Menlo Park. There will be occasional domestic travel required when the family is not in residence (about half of the year).
• The job duties will include preparing meals for the client (husband & wife) and their guests
• Handle all foods delicately and mindfully throughout the whole process (shopping, packaging, transporting, unpacking, storing, washing, prepping and cooking) to ensure the best quality.
• Oversee the kitchen Assistant including eventual special events or seasonal cooks, delegating tasks and providing training.
• Maintain best kitchen cleanliness and sanitation practices and standards, adhering to food safety laws and regulations.
• Manage food inventory by monitoring food stock levels, continually writing down what is needed (shopping list).
• Working closely with the butler team
• The candidates to hire will need to have the ability to travel domestically if needed
• Preference for Japanese cuisine cooking skillset
• The candidate to hire must have the ability to work independently and with a large culinary team
• Must have a teamwork mindset and be humble and easy to get along with others in the fully staffed kitchen and home
• Proven experience in a high-end culinary environment with strong cooking skills across various cuisines
• Candidate should have minimal 10 years at the executive chef level in coveted hotels or restaurants and 5 years as private chef
• $150k-200k DOE
