Overview

A private party of four is seeking a temporary charter chef/steward/ess for a short yacht charter based out of Saint Mandrier Port, (or Port Pin Rolland). The position is from Sunday, September 7th, (you will be required to arrive by the morning) through Sunday, September 14th.

 

You will be required to help prepare the boat and coordinate with the captain, and you must be available to remain on board through to Sunday, September 14th when the guests will depart.

 

The guests will likely eat out for most meals, but knowledge and experience in preparing occasional lunch and dinner is desired. While preparation and service of breakfast is required, as is table setting and decor.

 

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, hardworking, works well under pressure, and has good communication skills. You must be organized and be proactive.

 

Responsibilities

 Responsibilities include but are not limited to; 

  • setting schedules for guest service
  • responsible for cleaning and maintaining the yacht’s interior daily, including cabins, galley, and salon, to luxury standards
  • handling laundry, guest assistance, and maintaining an elegant, welcoming atmosphere on board.
  • inventory and accounting 
  • liaising with guests and service for meals
  • if possible preparing meals that can be reheated by the family later, as needed.
  • providing healthy, easily accessible snacks for the family between meals.
  • bar-tending, and activities
  • any boat stowage for sea and assisting with lines and fenders on deck will also be included, as well as assisting the captain with yachts paperwork and anything they may need. 
  • menu planning based on guests’ dietary needs and preferences
  • stocking and managing provisioning, including pantry and refrigerator supplies.
  • keeping kitchens and workspaces clean and organized.
  • keeping informed of all food and sanitation rules and ensure compliance onboard.
  • close coordination and communication with the captain and guests, anticipating and responding to needs.

Qualifications

  • You must have 5+ years of experience in private or charter
  • Must have a positive can-do attitude
  • Be flexible

Requirements

  • Must be discreet, personable, flexible, and demonstrate stamina and time-management skills.
  • Experience in both food service and interior yacht care is required; relevant certifications (STCW, food safety, hospitality) are advantageous.
  • Comfortable working aboard a yacht for the entire week, and not prone to seasickness.
  • You must be professional in approach, have an impeccable level of service and attentiveness and can assume some administration responsibilities.
  • Fluent English speaking
