Overview

A kind and travel-loving family of four currently in Montreal (Canada) is seeking a full-time live-in nanny/family assistant to join their family in November for a worldwide adventure! The nanny will care for two children who will be approximately 4 months and almost two-years-old at the start. This fun and worldly family is looking for a very special person to join their family and be a part of their children's lives in a meaningful way. The schedule for this role will be flexible but will generally be 5 days per week of full coverage, guaranteeing 45 hours per week. Typically the schedule will be Monday through Friday, but flexibility will be needed for nights, weekends, and overnights (with notice!) when traveling.

The family very much values boundaries, kindness, and consistency. They are looking for a nanny who will help reinforce sleep training methods and bedtime structure. The children thrive on their routine and the parents hope to continue this during travel.

The position will begin in Canada in November and then include: approximately one month in the in US Virgin Islands, and then a couple of months in Asia starting in January. The family will return back to North America and then likely wrap up their travel in Italy.

The family will fly the nanny home 4-6 weeks total during the year. Some long weekends off will also be possible throughout the travel. Time off will include two weeks during winter holidays and then another two week stretch after Asia.

Responsibilities

  • Full child care: Providing a warm and loving environment, care and engagement of the children including enrichment in age-appropriate activities that foster physical, social, and emotional growth both in and out of the home, coordinating schedules for naps and meals, activities, and travel

  • Preparing, washing, and sanitizing bottles and other baby items, helping with the children’s laundry, and with meal preparation and cooking
  • Nursery duties including: managing the tidiness and organization of the children's spaces, restocking items, packing and unpacking for trips, and laundry

Family assistant tasks will be during times the parents are with the children and will include:

  • Loading and unloading the dishwasher
  • Turning over laundry
  • Grocery shopping
  • Light housekeeping (the majority of accommodations will have housekeeping/deep cleaning but the family is looking for a team player who is proactive)

Qualifications

  • Easygoing yet proactive

  • A strong communicator who’s comfortable giving and receiving feedback

  • Worldly view: excited about new cultures, music, and travel. A foodie at heart who will encourage the children’s palate as well
  • Social and happy to be on the go
  • The parents are active and involved, so you must know when to fade in and out of the background while staying busy
  • Canadian or US citizen with valid passport not expiring within the next 6 months

  • Willing and excited to travel extensively with the family
  • Confident swimmer and comfortable supervising children in the water (ocean and pools)
