Overview

A kind, easygoing family based in Tribeca is seeking a full-time Family Assistant to care for their two young children—a sweet baby boy (5 months) and an energetic, curious 3-year-old girl—during their temporary stay in New York City. The family is visiting from London and will be in NYC from September 21 to December 15.

This is an ideal role for a gentle, proactive Family Assistant who understands the needs of both infants and toddlers and is comfortable working in a tag-team setup with an involved parent, while also assisting with household duties. The ideal candidate is confident managing two young children, can create age-appropriate routines and play experiences, and brings warmth and structure to each day.

The household is casual and friendly, and the family values someone who is supportive, professional, and can maintain clear boundaries while being flexible and collaborative.

Schedule:
Monday-Friday, 9am–4pm
With flexibility for the schedule to change slightly
Possibility of evening or overnight care with notice
Start date: September 22
End date: December 15

Responsibilities

  • Provide attentive, loving care for a 5-month-old baby and 3-year-old toddler
  • Create and maintain developmentally appropriate routines
  • Plan engaging activities at home and outings to local classes and playgrounds
  • Encourage social interaction by coordinating playdates and outings
  • Prepare simple meals and snacks for the children
  • Tidy children’s areas and help keep the home organized
  • Family laundry, grocery shopping, running errands as needed while helping keep the home organized and running smoothly 
  • Collaborate with work-from-home mom; tag-team care for first 6 weeks, solo care during second 6 weeks while she attends classes

Qualifications

  • Warm, grounded, and energetic with a calm presence
  • Proactive, organized, and able to take initiative
  • Comfortable in a laid-back home with visiting family or friends

Bonus Skills

  • Confident swimmer
  • Speaks another language
  • Experience with developmental play or early education

Requirements

  • 5+ years of nanny experience, especially with infants and toddlers
  • CPR & First Aid certified
  • Up to date on childhood vaccinations (TDap, MMR)
  • Familiar with NYC public transportation

Salary and Benefits

  • $35–$40/hour DOE
  • Overtime for hours worked over 40
  • Total compensation for 12 weeks: approximately $14,700–$16,800
