Overview

A loving, active family with three daughters (ages 16, 6, and 3.5) and a baby girl arriving in November is seeking a part-time nanny to support the children’s growth and provide day-to-day care. During the school year, the schedule will be Monday through Thursday from 12pm to 7pm. During summer break and school vacations, the schedule will be Monday through Thursday from 9am to 5pm. Occasional weekend or overnight support may be needed, and flexibility is appreciated. The family currently resides in Hartsdale, NY, and will be moving to Fairfield County, CT, next year. Start date is September or early October (Flexible for the right candidate)

 

Responsibilities

Include, but are not limited to:

  • Always ensuring the safety and well-being of the children
  • School pick-ups and transportation to extracurriculars (e.g., tennis, dance) occasionally drive 16-year-olds to activities
  • Homework assistance and enrichment activities (reading, writing, creative play)
  • Preparing healthy dinners for the children
  • Engaging in fun learning opportunities
  • Daily routines: bath time, bedtime prep, potty training, diapering, bottle-making/sterilization
  • General tidying, children’s laundry, organizing the playroom, and kids' rooms
  • Coordinating, scheduling play-dates and activities
  • Packing and organizing for travel
  • Engaging in educational activities and crafts
  • Teach children Spanish if Spanish speaking
  • Swimming supervision (pool and ocean – must be a confident swimmer)
  • Nurturing and promoting cognitive and gross motor development
  • Keeping children on a good schedule
  • Occasional travel with family
  • Light baby care during the day as needed
  • Grocery shopping
  • Minor pet care (let the dog outside, or fill the water bowl)

Qualifications

  • Energetic, fun, adventurous
  • Willingness to try new things
  • Calm and assertive with children
  • Collaborative approach allowing mom to spend one-on-one time with children
  • Patient, kind, and creative
  • Flexible schedule – ability to travel, occasionally work overnights or weekends
  • Familiar with an EPI pen or willing to learn
  • Previous experience in a household with infants and school-aged children
  • Ability to follow and assist with the curriculum from Kumon
  • Organized and efficient
  • Trustworthy, dependable, and truly passionate about children and their development
  • Familiarity and comfort with doing mixed-race hair is not required, but would be a plus
  • Fluency in Spanish would be a plus
  • Potential for an expanded role as the position evolves

 

Requirements

  • CPR certified (can be completed post-hire: family will cover cost)
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Comfortable driving an SUV with children
  • Must pass a background check
  • Comfortable and responsible for carrying and administering EPI pen (daughter has Mastocytosis with an unknown allergy trigger)
  • Ability to swim in the pool and the ocean
  • Ability and willingness to travel
  • Physically able to lift 40lbs
  • Comfortable with animals and the outdoors (hiking, zoo trips, snow play, etc)

Salary and Benefits

The family is offering $40 to $45 per hour, DOE, PTO, and a health care stipend.
