Overview

A warm, down-to-earth family of five in Harlem, NYC, is seeking a part-time nanny for their three children, aged 7, almost 6, and 1. Their current nanny of 4 years is moving in September, so the role will ideally start toward the end of August. The schedule will be 20 hours guaranteed in the school year, from 3 pm-7 pm Monday through Friday, and then 40 hours guaranteed in the school holidays. The family spends from roughly mid-June through September in Long Island, so it would be ideal if candidates could live-in Monday through Friday with them there during that time (they will also accept live-in Monday through Thursday, if this is a deal breaker, for the perfect candidate). Flexibility to stay over or stay later from time to time is appreciated.

Responsibilities

  • Prioritizing the safety and well-being of the children at all times
  • School pick up at 2:30/3 pm, followed by indoor and outdoor activities (weather pending), prepare dinner for the children only, then get the children ready for bed (the parents will take over at bedtime for the most part)
  • Assist with prepping a packed lunch and snack for the children - the parents will manage the bulk of lunch box prep in the mornings
  • Tidy up after the children, keep on top of their clothes, and help with their laundry (no tidying up, food prep, or laundry will be required for the parents)

Qualifications

  • Must have at least 5 years' verifiable experience working as nanny
  • Must have experience working with multiple
  • Be a calm, composed team player - pitch in where required and generally be good company

Requirements

  • US passport, Green Card or EAC
  • Candidates must be familiar with living in NYC, be street smart, and know how to navigate the City
  • Candidates must drive - sometimes the family use the subway, sometimes they drive (a car will be provided for use on duty)
  • Must be comfortable with cats since the family has two
  • Passport ready and willing to travel when required - the family take 2-3 vacations a year and won’t always bring the nanny with them

Salary and Benefits

  • $40-$45 per hour + overtime after 40 hours + all industry standard benefits (including a healthcare stipend)
  • Additional overnight fee for any travel or proxy childcare/ overnights (when the parents are out of town) - this does not apply to the Summers spent in Long Island
