Overview

A wonderful and loving family of 3 in Dumbo, Brooklyn is seeking a long-term, full-time nanny to support them with their 6-month-old child. The schedule will be Monday through Thursday, 8am - 5pm. The family is looking for an eager, joyful, and responsible person who is wanting to learn from mom (a montessori teacher) and grow with the baby. This person should be very active and happy to venture through the neighborhood to classes, the library, museums, the pool, and more. The family does have a dog, so you must be okay with pets.

Responsibilities

  • Make bottles and feed the baby every 3 hours
  • Report ounces consumed in the shared iPhone app
  • Put the baby down for naps
  • Record time asleep in the shared iPhone app and monitor the baby on Nanit
  • Enrich the baby during wake windows with age-appropriate activities
  • Suggest and execute activities for the baby that support development (gross and fine motor, language, early math)
  • Attend classes, playground, library, pool, etc., in support of the baby's growth
  • Change diapers whenever soiled
  • Help with baby-led weaning as the introduction to solid foods
  • Supervise the baby in all ways
  • Use the bottle cleaner machine to ensure clean bottles
  • Zero screen usage around the baby (TVs or phones)

Qualifications

  • Occasional travel to a vacation home outside Hudson, New York via Amtrak train on weekends and possibly week-long stays to be negotiated
  • Occasional travel to international destinations offered to the nanny, but not required
  • The ability to drive is a plus
  • The ability to swim is a plus
  • Teaching or a childhood education background is a HUGE plus 

Requirements

 

  • An understanding of modern early childhood education and practices
  • An openness to learn about our parenting style and preferences
  • Infant CPR certified and willing to retake the class if certificate is older than one year
  • A degree in Early Childhood Education or some kind of training certificate

Salary and Benefits

  • $35-$40/hr
