Overview

A busy single mom in Inner Richmond/Lake District of San Francisco is seeking a full-time nanny to join their growing family. Currently, it is mom and a 1.5-year-old son. Hoping for the second child via surrogate in the Fall of 2026. (There would be an NCS and a possible au pair to help on nights and weekends, and by the time Mom finished maternity leave, the older son would be in preschool daily.) The schedule would be Monday through Thursday, starting around 8:30/9am and finishing around 3:30/4pm. Friday can be a later afternoon start and finish in the evening, so there is one night of coverage. It would be a guaranteed 40 hours per week. If the candidate were open to adding additional hours one other night a week, the principal would be happy to go up to 45 hours per week. This role begins with one toddler for the first year and gradually transitions into helping with both children as the family grows. Seeking a nanny with an educational background or experience. The preference is for local, live-out nanny but live-in can be arranged for the right candidate. The role begins in August.

Responsibilities

  • Create a safe, engaging, and loving environment
  • Plan and lead age-appropriate developmental activities (sensory play, outdoor time, music, language exploration, etc.)
  • Take to storytime, music class, the Academy of Sciences, and other age-appropriate places
  • Understanding of child development and milestones
  • Encourage and provide music and nature in child's life
  • Meal prep and cook lunches/dinners for family. (Mom and son eat the same food, so it's simple cooking. Food is organic, wild fish, chicken breast, grass-fed beef, veggies, and fruits, all from the farmers' market - so all extremely healthy)
  • Support nap time and diapering
  • Light child-related tidying (toys, dishes, laundry)
  • Communication with child is important
  • Calmly enforcing gentle boundaries with a balance of love, compassion, firmness, and consistency
Note:  Typical weekday with mom currently looks like:
The son wakes up around 6:30, plays, and has breakfast.  Then, the current nanny (who is leaving in August) arrives and gets him ready for an outing, which can be story time, music class, a museum, or swimming class.   All activities are walkable, and there is usually a playground visit included as well.  Then they return for his nap.  While he naps for 1.5-2 hours, the nanny will prepare his meals (Mom will try to eat lunch with him most days).  The nanny can also eat and attend to any tidying of the playroom or laundry.  After lunch, the nanny usually plays with him in the playroom or goes out to the nearby playground, located at Mountain Lake Park, two blocks away.  She will return, get his bag ready for the mom, and they typically leave by 3pm.  On later evenings, they return for dinner at 5:15, eat, bathe, and go to bed by 7pm.

Note: For live-in accommodations, there's an entire bottom floor with a studio, featuring a kitchenette, private entrance, and bathroom.  Mom's office is in a separate area on this floor.
