Overview

An LA-based family relocating to NYC are seeking a superlative ROTA nanny to provide care for their preschooler and 10 year old.  Coverage will be split between 2 ROTA nannies, working 24-hour shifts on a schedule of 14 days on/off. The family travel domestically and internationally so candidates should be passport ready. To reiterate, no fly-in/fly-out is possible with this role and the family will not entertain candidates who may know New York well, but are no longer based there. No relocation of any description is being provided. The ideal candidate will be passionate about childcare, dedicated to creating a nurturing environment, and able to work collaboratively in a team setting to support their family.

 

Candidates will live in the family’s guest studio in LA for the first 3-4 months and then the role will be permanently based out of New York from November/ December. Candidates will live-in only when on duty from there, so candidates must have their own accommodation on their off weeks. This opportunity is ONLY applicable to candidates already based in New York - the family’s expectation is that this candidate will be comfortable navigating the city with children, know all the parks and green spaces/ children’s activities etc. 

Responsibilities

 

  • Provide attentive and high-quality care for their preschooler and 10 year-old
  • Care and engagement of the children in developmentally-appropriate activities and outings
  • Prepare healthy, nutritious meals and snacks for the children
  • Keep play areas tidy, keeping on top of supplies, removing old toys/ wardrobe items that no longer fit etc.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a ROTA nanny, and an ability to care for multiple children of different ages simultaneously.
  • Must be energetic, proactive, and committed to being fully engaged with the children
  • Must be very organized, clean, punctual, and tidy
  • Willing to work during the holidays. 
  • Feel comfortable traveling domestically and internationally with family. 
  • Work well on a team with involved parents and additional caregivers
  • Spanish is a plus, but not at all a deal-breaker
  • A degree or certification in Early Childhood Education/Infant Care or equivalent professional experience is preferred

Requirements

  • US passport, Green Card or EAC 
  • Able to swim
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record - this is non-negotiable
  • Must feel comfortable and excited to work collaboratively with other household staff - collaborative, team players only
  • Flexibility and willingness to travel whenever needed
  • Candidates should be loving, kind, patient, as well as cool, calm, fluid and easily able to provide structure to the children
  • Candidates should be consummate professionals - i.e. not take anything personally, have superlative communication and organization skills, and never participate in gossip or drama
  • Desire to make a long-term commitment to a loving and down to earth family 

Salary and Benefits

  • $120,000-$150,000 + healthcare reimbursement
