Overview

A kind, welcoming family seek a wonderful French-speaking nanny for their 8-month-old son.  Ideally the role will start in August, however the parents would rather not rush into anything and are happy to wait for the right candidate, if necessary.  The usual schedule will be Monday through Friday, 9am-5pm and accommodation is provided if needed.

Responsibilities

This is very much a shared-care role, as both parents work from home and Mum will be around regularly.  However there will also be plenty of opportunities for sole charge as the role develops.  The family live in a lovely gated community that includes a country club and fantastic options for children.  Responsibilities will include:

  • All the usual nursery duties, including laundry for the baby, and keeping his area clean, organised and tidy
  • Accompanying the child to activities (including swim classes) and on outings within the community
  • Planning educationally stimulating and age-appropriate activities
  • Creating a Montessori-inspired environment that encourages learning and discovery through play, and fosters curiosity
  • Maintaining a 'screen-free' household
  • Cooking delicious, healthy and made-from-scratch meals for the little one (who loves his food and has a very varied diet)
  • Travel with the family both domestically and internationally several times a year
  • Ensuring the child’s safety and well-being at all times, supporting continued social, emotional and physical development

Qualifications

  • At least 5 years' previous experience and longevity in roles
  • A Montessori background, or similar approach
  • Excellent and verifiable references

Requirements

  • Only native French speakers need apply
  • Confident swimming skills are essential
  • Candidates with a warm, nurturing and gentle personality would be preferred
  • The parents are always keen to learn and would love someone proactive, full of initiative, and who is able to stay at least 3 steps ahead in relation to their son's growth and development
  • Candidates must have a valid passport or greencard and should be open to regular travel
  • Applicants should bring a positive, can-do approach to the role and must lead with kindness and empathy
  • Candidates must, obviously, be legally able to work in the US

Salary and Benefits

  • The family are open to covering re-location costs for the right candidate, if required
  • From $35/hr DOE
  • Medical benefits also on offer, as well as industry standard benefits (PTO, sick leave etc)
