Overview

Seeking an experienced, caring, and compassionate live-in caregiver/personal assistant for healthy and independent 89-year-old woman living in her private Sag Harbor home. The role will be Monday through Friday from 10am until 6pm or 11am until 7pm. The role does require flexibility. 

 

This position is live-in, in a small one-bedroom apartment on-site. It is also supported by a part-time/weekend assistant and evening caregivers. Must be available to start in June, 2025. The principal has homes in London and LA but there will be very minimal travel. 

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include assistance with daily activities, meal preparation, household supervision, light housekeeping, running errands, and transporting to/from appointments. Examples include:

  • Manage and maintain the employer's calendar, scheduling for in-person appointments, and business and family meetings via Zoom.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external communications, including screening phone calls, responding to emails, and managing correspondence. Must be technologically proficient, and experienced user of Mac, Word, Excel, Zoom and other platforms.
  • Ensure timely and effective communication between employer and business affiliates as well as family members.
  • Handle confidential matters with the utmost discretion and professionalism.
  • Oversee and manage all household operations, including scheduling and supervising cleaning and maintenance staff, organizing basic household maintenance and repairs, and coordinating deliveries.
  • Light cooking/meal prep.
  • Care and management of two small to medium dogs, including feeding, transportation to vet and groomers as needed, and supervising dog walker.
  • Assistance with daily household activities, including blood pressure and glucose monitoring, physical therapy/exercise routine, managing visitors, etc.
  • Assist with personal errands, shopping, and appointments as needed.
  • Accompany employer on travel, both nationally and internationally.
  • Provide comprehensive administrative support, including maintaining business files and records.Assist with financial matters, such as managing expenses, coordinating bill payments, and maintaining budgets.

Qualifications

The family is looking for someone with:

  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks effectively, meet deadlines, and handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with high-profile individuals, household staff, and vendors.
  • Patience, kindness, and willingness to multi-task.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion.
  • Fluency speaking and writing in English – English as first language preferred.
  • Resourceful and proactive problem solver, with the ability to anticipate needs and find efficient solutions.

Requirements

Proven experience as a senior caregiver and personal assistant, preferably within a high-end/high profile household or luxury environment. 

  • Experience with managing medication, blood pressure, and glucose-monitoring.
  • Basic cooking and food prep skills.
  • Proficient in using productivity tools, such as Word/Apple Pages and Excel/Numbers, as well as virtual communication platforms such as Zoom. Mac experience a plus.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including some weekends as required by the employer's schedule. (Position will be supported by a part-time assistant and evening caregivers.) Willingness to travel on an as-needed basis, both nationally and internationally.
  • Must be a dog lover with experience in dog care.
  • Must have a valid NY State driver’s license.
  • CPR and basic care-giving skills a must.
  • Preferences for a caregiver who is a non-smoker, speaks English as a first language, and is comfortable with dogs.
  • Flexibility, organizational skills, patience, and discretion a must.
  • Minimum 2 references required.

Salary and Benefits

  • The position does depend on experience 
  • For a live-in candidates with apartment/housing provided the position starts at $85k plus PTO, gas reimbursement or use of on-site work vehicle and health reimbursement. 
  • For live-out, local candidates the family is flexible.
