Overview

A busy and warm family in Scarsdale, NY is seeking a full-time live-in nanny/family assistant to help care for their two school-aged children—a 10-year-old son and 7-year-old daughter- while also managing key household tasks. This is a live-in during Monday–Friday role with private accommodations provided. The children are in school full-time, and the ideal candidate will balance childcare, household support, cooking dinners, and assisting the family with independence and professionalism.

This position requires someone proactive, emotionally mature, and highly organized, who can work seamlessly alongside the parents and a household assistant. The family is looking for someone long-term to truly become part of their team. 

Schedule & Hours

Live-in Schedule:

  • Arrive: Sunday evening between 6pm-10pm
  • Depart: Friday afternoon 

General Daily Hours:

  • 6:45am to 6:30pm Monday through Friday 
  • Friday may end earlier depending on workload

Responsibilities

  • Ensure both children are up, dressed, and off to their respective schools (school drop-offs, bus management)
  • Support afternoon routines: homework help, organizing activities, calendar coordination
  • Enforce screen-time boundaries and respectful behavior with warmth and consistency
  • Prepare simple family meals (30 minutes or less—e.g., tacos, shrimp, pasta)
  • Grocery shopping, kitchen inventory, and managing expired food
  • Manage children’s laundry (2x/week) and parents’ casual/gym clothes
  • Keep children’s bedrooms and main floor tidy; collaborate with weekly housekeeper
  • Use and monitor shared family calendar for all scheduling needs
  • Handle trash/recycling, compost, soccer gear prep, monthly home supply walkthrough

Qualifications

  • Strong long-term nanny or family assistant experience with excellent references
  • Organized, punctual, and highly responsible
  • Experience supporting children ages 6–12 preferred
  • Able to follow directions but also a self-starter who takes initiative
  • Positive, warm, and nurturing, while able to maintain household rules
  • Excellent communication skills—responsive to texts and schedule changes
  • Comfortable working alongside other staff (assistant, housekeeper)
  • Tech-comfortable (able to use calendar apps and text messages)

Requirements

  • Legal to work in the U.S.
  • CPR & First Aid certified (or willing to obtain quickly)
  • Valid driver’s license; personal car preferred but not required (family car available for work-related tasks)
  • Up to date on childhood vaccinations (including Tdap, Flu)
  • Non-smoker
  • Passport not required, but ability to travel is a plus

Salary and Benefits

  • Hourly rate: $34-$38 for 44 hours + 14.75 hours of OT ($117,000-$131,000 salary range)
